May 10, 2019 - Week 34

Dear Dale Street Families,

I hope that you all had a fabulous week! For us, it is true what they say - time flies when you are having fun!  For those who may not be aware, this week was Teacher and School Nurse Appreciation Week.  Please join me in thanking the fabulous teachers and school nurse we have here at Dale Street.  I feel very proud and privileged to work every day with the most caring, intelligent, and dedicated staff.  They blow me away with all the things they do for our students every single day.

On Monday, I had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Condon's fifth grade class to watch the students reenact the Boston Massacre trial.  They did a wonderful job!

Are you looking for a place to travel this summer?  How about someplace in the southeast region? Ms. DiPesa'a fourth grade students created brochures to help with your decision on where to go!

Congratulations to this great #beproudbedale student for showing tremendous determination and perseverance while completing this challenging math puzzle.

All Dale Street students and staff attended a production of “James and the Giant Peach” at the Wheelock Family Theatre on Wednesday.  What a great play! It was so nice to have a whole-school community together!  Be sure to ask you child about it!

A variety of excellent artwork was on display on Tuesday night at the Dale Street Art Show.  Special thanks to our incredible students and our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Delaney for creating such a wonderful environment!

Thanks to Samantha in Mrs. Crable's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Samantha recommended The Land of Stories, by Chris Colfer for someone 'who loves adventure.'  Samantha rated this book 5 stars!  Thanks Samantha!

We had an awesome Dale Street/Park Street Books Book Fair on Tuesday.  Special thanks to Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Cowell and Park Street Books owner, Jim James for all of their hard work organizing this great event!

Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade class used some great ideas from fellow fourth graders in Mrs. Crable's class and created blueprints for their potential houses.  I believe we have some future architects at Dale Street!

Thank you to our amazing PTO and all the volunteers who spoiled us all week!  We received beautiful notebooks, an awesome breakfast, and an incredible luncheon!  We are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity.  THANK YOU!

It was a pleasure to meet with parents during Term III's Principal's Coffee this morning.  Special thanks to Grade 5 teacher, Kelly Bertschmann for showcasing Google Classroom, highlighting how parents can access student assignments. Thank you to all who were able to attend and to the food service staff who provided coffee and snacks.

The Massachusetts School Library Association featured the Dale Street Library on their website recently.  We are so proud of our library and so excited to have it recognized.

Check out the PTO update!  The last PTO meeting of the year will be May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in the LMC.
