June 14, 2019 - Week 39

Greetings Dale Street Community,

On Wednesday, our Grade 5 students participated in Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration. It was a great event!  Special thanks to Mr. Jim James - your message was fabulous.  Here are a few snapshots from the day.

Congratulations to our grade 5 yearbook winners, Lily and Emma.  What talented artists!

Special thanks to the Clay family who donated this awesome cornhole set to #beproudbedale.  It is already getting great use!

The students and staff celebrated the US Women's first World Cup game in France with a spirit day on Tuesday.  Thank you all for your great support!

Thank you to Personal Best Karate for providing coffee and donuts to our Dale Street Staff during a very busy last week of school.  We really appreciate it!

Congratulations to our Math Challenge winners: Mason, Jack, Rudra, Braeden, Brayden, Warren and Rebecca.  Keep up the good work!

SUMMER MATH and
LANGUAGE ARTS SKILLS SHARPENER

Many students have found it beneficial to work on strengthening math and/or language arts skills over the summer months.  For many years we have used a series of workbooks published by a company called Summer Skills.  These books have been successful in helping students practice and sharpen their skills.  Please be aware that some questions contained in the workbooks may cover topics that have been introduced but not yet mastered.  As a school, we feel that summer work is beneficial, as studies show that much of what is learned during the school year is lost over the summer months; however, this book is entirely OPTIONAL.

Check out their website at http://www.SummerSkills.com

Last week we held a wonderful Moving Up assembly. It was fantastic to recognize retirees, Mrs. Crable & Mrs. Gordon, teacher of the year, Mr. Mason, and our awesome Ss!

Check out the PTO update.

Ms. DiPesa's fourth grade students had a wonderful time traveling over to Memorial School to share stories with Mrs. Grace's kindergarten class.

If you know that your child will not be attending Medfield Public Schools for the next school year, please let the office know for the placement process.

This will be the last Dale Street blog of the school year.  Thank you to all for checking in each week.  On behalf of the entire Dale Street staff, I wish all of you a sensational summer vacation!

June 7, 2019 - Week 38

Hello Dale Street Community,

What a fantastic week here at #beproudbedale!  It is amazing to think there are only 4 and a half days remaining in the '18-'19 school year.  Time certainly flies when you are having fun!

Congratulations to our Chorus members on a very successful concert Tuesday evening.  Your hard work all year long certainly paid off!  Special thanks to music teacher, Mrs. Oxholm.

We had an awesome Field Day today!  Special thanks to Wellness teachers, Mrs. Nawrocki and Ms. Laughna for organizing a wonderful, fun-filled day for our students.

On Tuesday, students in Mrs. Flynn's Grade 4 classroom used time during their writer's workshop to plan for the letters they are going to write to next year's fourth graders. What a wonderful exercise and what a great perspective!

Check out the Grade 5 Egg Drop! Students played the role of design engineers to create contraptions that would safely hold an egg.  We have very talented students with such creative ideas!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!  Thank you for making Dale Street such a great place!

Special thanks to Mr. Kurt Jackson (Jordan's dad) for visiting Mr. Douglas' class and Mrs. Flynn's class to share some incredible stories!

Please mark your calendars for the Grade 5 Celebration! The celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, at 9:30 a.m. in the Dale Street School gymnasium. We look forward to seeing you there!

A HUGE thank you to Dale Street alumni and current Blake students for visiting Grade 5 classrooms this week to answer students' questions and alleviate fears of the middle school.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Mike Mason, one of our amazing 5th grade teachers, on receiving Teacher of the Year at the NCTA reception this past Tuesday.  And congratulations to Officer Manganello, our School Resource Officer, for being a Service Award Recipient.  We are lucky to have such great people working at our school!

Check out the PTO update for this week.

And a BIG THANK YOU to the PTO for providing a delicious breakfast for our Dale Street staff.  We so appreciate it!

Thank you to Haley for reading our book recommendation today.  Haley recommended El Deafo by CeCe Bell.  She recommends this book for anyone who 'loves graphic novels and who likes reading realistic fiction'.  She rates this book 100 stars!  Thanks Haley!

Parents of students who have medications in the nurse's office may pick them up anytime.  The nurse has Epi-Pens and inhalers available if needed.
This morning we celebrated two wonderful Dale Street staff members who will be retiring at the end of the school year.  Grade 4 teacher, Mrs. Heidi Crable and Special Education Teacher, Mrs. Beverly Gordon have both been extraordinary staff members who have given so much of their lives and their hearts to the students at Dale Street.  They will most definitely be missed!

It’s crazy to think about next school year already but we can take back to school shopping off your summer to do list for you before you even make it to the beach!!!  We are working with 1st Day School Supplies again this year because the teachers were so pleased with the quality of the products that were provided in the kits!  Order yours now for incoming grades K-5 and your child’s supplies will be waiting for them in their classroom on their first day back at school.

Flyers will be coming home or you can go directly to the link below:

Go to:  Www.1stdayschoolsupplies.com

And enter in 02052 to find your class for next school year!

Mrs. Cowell and I had so much fun this morning meeting with our Grade 4 students to kick off our PreK-5 summer reading theme: Book that Inspire!  We are asking all students to choose and read books that inspire them over the summer.

Looking for some ideas?  Here are some recommendations that inspire the students and staff at Dale Street:

Transition day will be held on Thursday, June 13th.  Children will spend approximately 30-45 minutes in their new teacher's classroom, get a chance to meet their new classmates, and hear a little about what's to come next year.

Tuesday, June 11, will be Soccer Spirit Day!  Have your child come dressed in their favorite soccer clothing to celebrate the 1st World Cup Game for the American Women's Soccer Team.

Please check the Lost & Found for any missing items.

Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year!

Please make sure all Dale Street Library books are returned to school ASAP.  Thank you for your cooperation in making sure our library is ready for next year's students.
