November 17, 2023 - Week 12

Dear Dale Street Families,

What an amazing week we've had! Please take a minute to read this week's blog so you can stay connected and informed. Next week, I will not be publishing the Dale Street Blog due to the short week. However, all of us at #beproudbedale would like to take this moment to express our deep appreciation for all our families. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for the incredible support you provide us every day. We are truly grateful! We hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving and enjoy the quality time spent with your loved ones.

Thank you to the students in Mrs. Nee’s class for facilitating an awesome SEL assembly on Thursday. Their focus: our Core Value of inclusivity. Thank you for helping foster a stronger & kinder community!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!

'WE ARE THANKFUL!'

Attention - All Dale Street Families! The Dale Street Student Council and the Dale Street PTO are having a collection of new PJ's and socks for Cradles to Crayons for the cold winter months.  The collection started this week and will run until Friday, December 15th. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause.  Thank you!

Thanks to our Friday DJs who kept the lunchroom rockin' today.

Thank you to all of the students who have been completing the Math Challenges.  Great job! The newest math challenge has been released.  It is due December 6th. Students should turn all math challenges into the office.

What’s better than one MCPE grant in action? Seeing two MCPE grants come together in this fun, creative project at Dale Street School last year! Students were tasked with using the EverBlocks life-size block system together with robotic Sphero balls to create obstacle courses and mazes for them to navigate. The EverBlocks modular building blocks were funded by MCPE in a 2019-20 grant, and the robotic Sphero balls were upgraded for the K-5 robotics program with new kits and components in a 2020-21 grant.

Follow MCPE on Instagram (@mcpe_medfield) to see more updates on how your donations make a real impact on our Medfield students!

On Wednesday, students in Mrs. Skinner’s fifth-grade class collaborated and acted as Plant Pros and Water Wizards and used this information to determine where they would lead their mission. Great job!

2024 TESTING SCHEDULE
Dale Street's testing schedule is set for the spring.  As always it is most important that students attend school on the days of testing, so please plan appointments in a way that does not interfere with your child being in school on the following testing dates:

ELA Testing

Grade 4 April 9th and April 11th

Grade 5 April 5th and April 10th

Math

Grade 4 May 7th and May 9th

Grade 5 May 8th and May 10th

STE Testing

Grade 5 May 14th and May 17th

On Monday, Grade 5 students in Ms. McKenzie's class spent time dividing unit fractions by whole numbers. I was impressed with the students' effort and wonderful math discussions!

Your support and partnership are so important and so appreciated. Please take a moment to check out this week's blog for some exciting highlights and to stay connected.

On behalf of the Dale Street staff, thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in teacher conferences this week.  We believe the home-school partnership is paramount for student success and these discussions are important opportunities to help improve a child’s achievement and happiness, inside and outside the classroom. Please note that Term 1 closes on November 22nd. Report cards will be issued on December 8th and will include information from both classroom teachers and specialists.

This week, Grade 4 students in Mrs. Scott's class had a great time learning to code with our MCPE-funded Ozobots. Special thanks to our Technology Integrationist, Mr. Ahearn for creating such fun and creative lessons!

This week was School Psychologist Week.  Please join me in thanking Dale Street's amazing School Psychologist, Mrs. Strekalovsky for the wonderful work she does each day.

Congratulations to Gabe who was recognized for completing an entire summer's worth of practice challenges.  Way to go, Gabe!

The start of November for many means entering the holiday season. For MCPE, it means we’re underway with our first grant cycle of the 2023-24 school year, with our first set of submitted grants to be reviewed and approved this month! This also makes it a great time to look back at the impact of prior grants in Medfield schools - such as this Numicons interactive math tiles set funded by an MCPE grant for Memorial School in the 2021-22 school year. These manipulatives provide a hands-on way for students to learn about early math concepts, and help prepare them for future math skills like multiplication and division.

November 3, 2023 - Week 10

  Happy Friday, Dale Street Families!

It was a fantastic and busy week here at Dale Street! It was great fun having students show up in their Halloween costumes on Tuesday! Here are some exciting things that took place this week along with some important information regarding upcoming events.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Check out some of the Halloween fun from Tuesday morning. Special thanks to all of the volunteers who helped create a fun and exciting environment.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Wednesday, November 8th and Thursday, November 9th are early release days for teacher conferences. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. Please be sure to check School Dismissal Manager to see what your student’s dismissal plan is for those days. Unless you make a change, your student will be dismissed per their regular end-of-day plan. If you need to make a change, please do so before 10:30 a.m. on the day of early dismissal.

For those of you conferencing in person, please be sure to check out our Lost & Found display in the lobby for any items that may belong to your family. As a reminder, labeling your child’s items is strongly encouraged as it helps us to quickly return coats, hats, mittens, sweatshirts, and water bottles to their rightful owner. Thank you in advance.

On a visit to Mr. Douglas' fourth-grade class this week, students were engaged in math centers. So much great collaboration and math discussions were taking place!

Theatre Society to perform Grease, November 17-19

Grease travels all the way back to 1958, capturing a sugary and idealized view of teenhood in its early stages. Back when love, slumber parties, and prom were the main worries of many teenagers, it brings the audience back to simpler times. Guaranteed to spread a wave of nostalgia to an older audience, and a perception of hope and excitement to the younger audience. Fresh off their summer love, Danny and Sandy never thought they would see each other again. But when their paths cross again at Rydell High, cliques and popularity complicate everything.
Will Danny and Sandy be able to rekindle their love? Or should it all be left in the summer? The cast and crew of Medfield Theatre Society cordially invites you to join Danny and Sandy as they navigate their senior year at Rydell High School. Grease: School Version is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Condors Theatricals Company. www.concordtheatricals.com. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey

Show dates: November 17 and 18 @7:00 PM, and November 19 @2:00 PM
Location: MHS Auditorium, 88 South Street, Medfield, MA
