April 28, 2023 - Week 31

 Greetings Dale Street Families,

What a fabulous week back!  The students and staff transitioned smoothly and there were so many exciting events happening around #beproudbedale this week.  Take a look.....

On Wednesday, the students and staff at Dale Street celebrated Administrative Professional's Day and our two fabulous Administrative Professionals, Mrs. Gilberti and Mrs. Malmquist.  These two incredible people do so much for the students, families, and staff at Dale Street and we are so fortunate to have them!

This week our Grade 4 classes continued participating in our awesome SEED science lessons.  Check out Ms. Isaacson's students engaged in dissecting owl pellets.  Special thanks to Dr. Bless and Dr. Pearl. Students and teachers love the interactive learning experiences!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

This week all Grade 5 students participated in a really cool STEM (coding) lesson with Mr. Ahern.  Students enjoyed working collaboratively to design a sequence of commands to replicate the vintage game pong.

In an effort to promote random acts of kindness, Dale Street will have a Flower Power Day. On Friday, May 5, 2023, all students are asked to bring in a flower of their choice.  This can be a flower from a garden or a store-bought flower.  Each classroom will be filling vases with the flowers brought in to create a beautiful bouquet.  We will have an assembly about kindness and “filling people’s buckets”.  We will then distribute the flowers to members of our Dale Street Community.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear floral prints and/or bright colors.  Participation is optional.

Thank you for supporting this “kind” event!

Mrs. Guiteriez's fourth-grade students used everyday logos to find lines of symmetry during math this week.  Students were energized by this real-world connection.

April 14, 2023 - Week 30

Dear Dale Street Community,

Students and staff are entering April vacation on all cylinders after another fantastic week. Take a look...

It was a wonderful day for two, amazing Dale Street students.  These students displayed true Olympic spirit at today's Special Olympics at Ashland High School!  Congratulations to these wonderful students.  We are so proud of you!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

On Thursday, we held an awesome assembly that highlighted Dale Street's March Madness 🏀 championship & the unveiling of our Tournament of Books winner. Congratulations to our winning team the Baguette Ballers (Caleigh, Jordyn, and Molly) and our runner-up team The Wet McNuggetts (Luke, Sean, and Charlie). You both were incredible!  Our winning book, voted on by students was Wings of Fire - Moon Rising by Tui T. Sutherland.  Big shout out to our phenomenal emcee, Mr. Mason and Dale Street's awesome Library staff, Mrs. Lowerre and Mrs. Knott.

This week, all Grade 4 students have been involved in hands-on Science lessons with our partners from SEED (Science Engineering Education Development), Dr. Liz and Dr. Sandy.  This wonderful opportunity was funded by a Mass Cultural Council grant.  Students as scientists - AWESOME!

This week, students in the Student Council boxed up the numerous arts and crafts materials donated by the amazingly generous Dale Street community.  We are hoping that these awesome arts and crafts materials brighten the days of the many patients Boston Childrens Hospital supports.  Huge thank you to the entire Dale Street community for your support!  #proudprincipal

This week, students in the Green Team Intramural and students in Ms. Sager’s and Mrs. Hayes’ classes decorated Shaw’s paper grocery bags for Earth Day. These bags will be an inspiration for Shaw’s customers.

Special thanks to Medfield HS music students who visited Dale Street this morning to share their fantastic talents!  Thank you to Mr. Dexter, Mrs. Tembly, and Mrs. Evans for arranging this awesome visit!

Our fifth-grade students completed their ELA MCAS sessions on Monday and Tuesday this week.  I am so very proud of the students and staff involved in this week's testing.  Their perseverance and resiliency need to be commended.  If your child missed either session 1 or 2, make-ups will be completed on an ongoing basis.  Here are the remaining testing dates for Dale Street students:

STE Testing

Grade 5 May 9th and May 25th

Math

Grade 4 May 11th and May 12th

Grade 5 May 17th and May 18th

Thank you to all who took the time to submit a placement letter.  We will begin working on creating classes/groupings right after the break and will continue at our PD day on May 19th.

This week in World Language with Señora LeVangie, Grade 4 students had fun with las prendas de ropa! Students dressed their characters according to what they heard. Then students dressed their characters for the season they like most and shared this in their writing.

During reader's workshop this week in Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class, students were in full swing with their fairy tale unit. Always a favorite, students collaborated to 'buddy read' different versions of Cinderella
