September 15, 2017 - Week 3

Happy Friday Dale Street!

It's been a busy week here at the Dale Street!  It was awesome to see so many of you at last evening's PIN.  On behalf of the entire Dale Street staff, I would like to thank you for coming and we look forward to working with you all throughout the school year.  As mentioned last evening, the Google Slides used in last night's PIN are located on the Dale Street Homepage.

This week Mrs. Foley's fifth grade class participated in math workshop. Students used the time to gain a better understanding of decimal place value.  The students love the workshop model!

Please read the PTO update which includes important information, including the Yankee Candle and Mixed Bag Fundraiser and volunteer opportunities.

What a blast it has been this week!  I have had the great fortune of reading in each classroom here at Dale Street. I read What Do You Do With An Idea by Kobi Yamada to our fourth graders and The Book of Mistakes by Corinna Luyken to our fifth graders.  We had some wonderful conversations about sticking with an idea no matter what others think and looking at mistakes as an important part of the learning process.  Please ask you child(ren) how they liked the book.

Welcome back from the Medfield Coalition for Public Education! We are looking forward to another amazing year. Please stop by our booth on Medfield Day, September 16, in front of the Montrose School. We will be doing our annual free book raffle for kids of all ages and also handing out free tote bags.

SAVE THE DATE! Our fun and fierce Trivia Night will once again be held on Friday November 3 at the Medfield Legion. Sign up information coming soon.

Students in Mrs. Carey's Health class this week worked on an activity (replicating designs) which highlighted our Core Value of collaboration.  Our students and staff are really working hard to model Respect, Compassion, Collaboration, and Continuous Growth!

Thank you to Yara in Mrs. Lowerre's class for reading our book recommendation this week.  Yara recommended Wings of Fire series by Tui T. Sutherland because the books have many likable characters.  Yara gave this book 5 stars.

Students in Ms. MacDonald's 4th grade class used Google Earth to study Latitude and Longitude.  File this one under......I wish I had this when I was in school!  #Continuous Growth

Check out the beautiful bulletin board created by the creative students in Ms. Bertschmann's 5th grade class.  What unique and amazing qualities!

Students in Mr. Mason's 5th grade class used writer's workshop time this week to compose letters to their favorite celebrity.  It is always so cool to see who will respond...stay tuned.

There is no school on Thursday, September 21st

 in observance of Rosh Hashanah.

Enjoy your weekend with your family and friends!

Sincerely,
Steve
