September 1, 2017 - Week 1

Hello Dale Street!

What an amazing first week of school! This is going to be a great year!  We were able to capture the sights and sounds of our first day together.  Click here to take a look.

As we embark on a new school year, I would like to formally welcome the following people to their new positions at the Dale Street School.
  • Xiaoqing (Lucy) Song, Mandarin Teacher
  • Kaitlin Aries, BCBA
  • Kelly Connerton, General Education Instructional Assistant
  • Kathy Boudreau, Cafeteria Staff
  • Carol McCourt, Cafeteria Staff
  • Jessica Mulligan, Occupational Therapist
  • Mary Salamone, Special Education Team Chair

Please join me in welcoming these individuals to the Dale Street staff.

After a year of collaboration, Dale Street Staff has developed Core Values for every member of the Dale Street community. These values are Respect, Compassion, Collaboration and Continuous Growth. Each room in the school displays a matrix that connects these values to the areas students and staff visit every day. The matrix can be viewed here.

Please remember if your child will be absent or tardy; please call the absence line (508-242-8502) before 9:00 a.m.  If your child is not in school and we did not receive a call, we will call you to ensure you child is safe.

Please read the following information from our Dale Street Guidance Department.

We are presently looking for Grade 4 parents/guardians who would like to volunteer to serve on the Dale Street School Council.  Meetings will be held on October 19th, January 18th, April 5th, and May 31st at 3:15 p.m. in the Dale Street Library Media Center. Please contact the Dale Street office (508) 359 - 5538 if you are interested.

Again this year, the Dale Street School will have a Student Advisory Council.  The objective of this group will be to talk with their classmates about concerns/initiatives in their classroom and/or the school.  The Student Advisory Council will consist of one student from each homeroom in Grades 4 and 5. There will also be an alternate selected from each homeroom.  Students interested in serving on the Student Advisory Council must write a one paragraph letter of interest.  This letter of interest will be distributed on Friday, September 8th and must be received by the close of school on September 15th.  The Student Advisory Council will meet on the first Friday of each month (starting in October) at 8:45 AM for about 35 minutes.  I would like to thank Mrs. Vancura and Mrs. Carey who have volunteered again to work with me on the Dale Street School Advisory Council.

Dale Street encourages you to join us in modeling three key messages:

School is important!
Your child can do it!
We are here to help him/her!

Monday, September 4 - No School
Tuesday, September 5 - Band Instrument Rental Night - 5:30 p.m.

Thank you for reading this week's blog.  Please check back again next Friday.

Sincerely,
Steve
