December 9, 2022 - Week 14

Hello Dale Street Community!

It was another great week here at #beproudbedale!  Please take a minute to scroll through to check out some of the wonderful things that occurred.  As a reminder, your child's report card has been published to the Aspen portal. Please log into the Aspen portal to view your child's report card.

This week in World Language with Señora LeVangie Grade 4 students wrapped up their mi día escolar (my school day) unit in Spanish class.  Students had fun asking and answering questions about their school subjects.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Axel was recognized for modeling our Core Value of Compassion!

Declan was recognized for showing our Core Value of Compassion!

Winston was recognized for modeling inclusion and our Core Value of Respect!

Over the last month, Grade 5 classrooms have collaborated with Mrs. Lowerre to create some amazing satellite prototypes. We are so proud of them and we love seeing these prototypes displayed in our library!

Student Council Initiative
This week the Dale Street Student Council unanimously supported a motion to help the Medfield Home Committee for the holidays.  We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations for the Home Committee so they can help provide extra cheer to Medfield families during the holidays.  We will be collecting the new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations until Friday, December 23rd.  We will also be collecting student created holiday cards and positive message cards for the residents at the Thomas Upham House.  Students who complete a card can hand it in to the office.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Monday, December 19th - Wear something that shows off a winter character (Grinch, Santa, elf, Olaf, snowman, reindeer…).

Tuesday, December 20th - Merry & Bright - wear something bright, sparkly, or shiny.

Wednesday, December 21st - Wear a festive holiday sweater!

Thursday, December 22nd - Mad About Plaid! Wear your favorite plaid shirt, plaid scarf, and/or plaid hat and blue jeans!

Friday, December 23rd - Students and staff are encouraged to wear PJs (or comfy clothes) on the last Friday before winter break.

Holiday Celebrations - Enjoy a “Party in a Bag!” Have your child decorate a brown paper lunch bag with a holiday theme. Once decorated, fill it with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack.  Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy!  Students will be able to enjoy their “Party in a Bag” snacks at a designated time during their classroom celebration on December 23rd.

Positive Sign Thursday!

'YOU ARE FABULOUS!'

There were a lot of smiles in Ms. Plympton's Grade 4 class this week.  Students were super excited to receive letters from various National Parks they had written to a few weeks ago.  #realworldconnections

Medfield's Destination Imagination organization is looking for volunteers to be appraisers at either of the regional tournaments (March 4th in Medfield or March 12th in Beverly). It is the perfect opportunity for someone 18 years or older (and out of high school) who would like to spend the day praising the accomplishments of each dedicated and hugely creative Destination Imagination team and awarding as many points as possible. It is truly a fun day spent enjoying the creativity of students in grades 3-12 and is a great community volunteer opportunity for anyone- college students, retired folks, those who have previously participated in Destination Imagination, etc.). Contact uflindsay@gmail.com for more information and learn about Destination Imagination at destinationimagination.org.

This week, students in Ms. Isaacson's fourth-grade classroom work incredibly hard to dive deeper into multi-digit multiplication.  Students used the method that worked better for them: area model or partial products to answer some tricky and challenging problems.  Well done!

Big thanks to Ms. Sager and our Green Team Intramural students for helping clean up the grounds around Dale Street!

Dale Street will host a Holiday Flea Market on Wednesday, December 21st.  Classes will visit Mr. Douglas' and Mrs. Flynn's classrooms at a designated time and have the opportunity to purchase a trinket for themselves or someone else.  All proceeds will benefit the Medfield Home Committee.

Although the weather has been relatively mild for this time of the year, colder temperatures will be arriving!  Please make sure your children come to school dressed appropriately for the cold weather.  Students will have recess OUTSIDE if the 'feels like' temperature is 20 or above.  Hats, gloves, and coats are strongly encouraged.
