April 29, 2022 - Week 32

Greetings Dale Street Families,

What a fabulous week back!  The students and staff transitioned smoothly and there were so many exciting events happening around #beproudbedale this week.  Take a look.....

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!

Katie was recognized for modeling our core value of Continuous Growth.

This week, Grade 4 students went on a field trip to the Patriots Hall of Fame.  Students participated in a math-focused program in which they were able to manage an NFL franchise.  Students and staff had a blast!

After a two-year hiatus, the Dale Street PTO is excited to bring back Kids’ Night Out, with an indoor BEACH PARTY theme.

4th Grade KNO = Friday, May 13th
5th Grade KNO = May 20th

Both events will be held in Dale’s cafeteria from 7-8:30 PM. Students will enjoy a DJ with dancing, Games in the Gym, Guess How Many, Trivia, Refreshments, and more. Cash or check payable to the Dale PTO to be paid at the door (no pre-registration). This is a drop-off event, but we need the help of many parents to ensure the evening runs smoothly. Please view this permission slip for all of the details and to volunteer.

On Friday, May 6th, Dale Street will have a 'Jersey Day'.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team apparel. It can be for a professional team, a school team, or even a town/club team.

On Wednesday, the students and staff at Dale Street celebrated Administrative Professional's Day and our two fabulous Administrative Professionals, Mrs. Gilberti and Mrs, Malmquist.  These two incredible people do so much for the students, families, and staff at Dale Street and we are so fortunate to have them!

Today, Dale Street held another POP (Parents on the Playground).  Today's activities...capture the flag and chalk art were huge successes.  Special thanks to Mr. Marciniszyn (Serena's dad) who facilitated today's POP.  If you are interested in volunteering, please click here.

Vision screening will be conducted during PE classes next week (5/2, 5/5, and 5/6)
Please email the school nurse, Mrs. Thompson, at kthompaon@email.medfield.net with any questions or if you would like to excuse your child from the screening. If your child wears glasses, please check that they bring them into school next week. Thank you!
Thank you to our Friday DJ's who rocked the lunchroom today!

May 17th and 18th - Grade 4 Math

This week, students in Mrs. Scott's fourth-grade class kicked off their graphic novel unit.  The students were so engaged!

Family Literacy Night is coming up soon! The Dale Street Library wants to let you know about a fun opportunity you'll have to adopt a library book.

Our books in the library are well-loved, but sometimes they get a little too much love and end up with torn pages or broken spines. Accidents happen! To help some of our most popular books in the library get back in good shape, we’re starting the Adopt a Book program!

How it works:
Purchase a new copy of that book and donate it to the library
You’ll receive a book adoption certificate and get to take the library's original, loved copy home!

Big thank you to Ryen in Mrs. Chamblin's class for helping create this beautiful Dale Street-themed bowl for Medfield's Empty Bowl project. Amazing job!

Free homework help will be provided by a high school student volunteer!  Currently open to students in Grades 1-6; All Subject Areas.  This is a drop-in, no registration is needed!  Please have your child bring their school work or school projects.  This program is being coordinated by Teen Librarian Erica, who works with our Teen Volunteers.  If you have questions, please call 508-359-4544 x2 and ask for Erica, or send her an email at ecote@minlib.net

Thank you to Detective Manganello for greeting Dale Street students with high fives this morning.  What a great and positive way to start the day!

Earlier this week, Grade 4 students in Ms. Plympton's class continued to work hard to learn more about the southeast region.  Students focused on identifying the states in this region, describing its diverse culture, and explaining natural disasters.

April 14, 2022 - Week 31

 Dear Dale Street Community,

Students and staff are entering April vacation on all cylinders after another fantastic week. Take a look...

On Wednesday, we held an awesome assembly that highlighted Dale Street's March Madness šŸ€ championship & the unveiling of our Tournament of Poems. Congratulations to our winning team the Basketball Buddies (Kacey, Annie, and Ms. Laughna) and our runner-up team the Scuffed Swishers (Alex, Evan, and Dylan). You both were incredible!  Our winning poem, voted on by students was Vacation Time by Laura Purdie Salas.  Big shout out to our phenomenal emcee, Ms. Isaacson and Dale Street's Library Media Specialist, Ms. Sweeney.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!

Evan was recognized for being collaborative and compassionate.

Over the last few weeks, all Grade 4 students have been involved in hands-on Science lessons with our partners from SEED (Science Engineering Education Development), Dr. Liz and Dr. Sandy.  On Wednesday, students in Mr. Douglas' fourth-grade class used singing bowls, humming sounds, & tuning forks to provide evidence that sound=vibration.  Students as scientists - AWESOME!

Today, Dale Street held its first-ever POP (Parents on the Playground).  In collaboration with our AMAZING PTO, we have arranged for 1-2 parents to come to recesses on Fridays (today because we are not in school tomorrow) and provide an activity.  Students can voluntarily participate - it is not mandatory.  It gives students something different to do and a parent to share a special skill.  Today's activity...relay races was a huge success.  Special thanks to Michelle Barrette who facilitated today's POP.  If you are interested in volunteering, please click here.

In Mandarin with Mrs. Song, students had fun sharing the vocabulary they recently learned in class.  Vocabulary included greetings, students' favorite foods, animals, and school activities.

Our fifth-grade students completed their ELA MCAS sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I am so very proud of the students and staff involved in this week's testing.  Their perseverance and resiliency need to be commended.  If your child missed either session 1 or 2, make-ups will be completed on an ongoing basis.  Here are the remaining testing dates for Dale Street students:

Fifth Grade Families--The 5th Grade Variety Show is a special Dale St. tradition and it is back!!  We need 5th-grade performers and parent volunteers to help make it a memorable night!  Please access this google form to understand important dates and requirements related to performing and to fill out the application which is due by tomorrow, 4/15.  We can't wait to see all the talent!!

Please join me in wishing the best of luck to 4th-grade teachers, Sara Isaacson and Margot Hayes who will run the Boston Marathon on Monday.  We know that they both will be amazing!  Please give them a loud cheer if you see them on the marathon route.

In World Language this week with SeƱora LeVangie and SeƱora DellaMonica, grade 4 students used the game Guess Who to practice communicating about clothing, colors, and descriptions. ¡Adivina quien!
