Hello Dale Street Community,
I will not lie, this was a challenging week for the staff at Dale Street. Although we didn't receive the news we wanted over the last week, I am comforted in knowing that I work in a place where people value children - and that makes all the difference. Take a look at the sights and information from our week...there was a lot of awesomeness.
On a visit to Mrs. Fox's fourth-grade class this week, students took a deeper dive into division with the help of Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa. Mrs. Fox and math specialist, Mrs. Perachi connected the famous movie as they split up fake chocolate bars to see how many each group would receive. #fun

On Tuesday, November 30th at 4:30 PM, the elementary principals will be hosting an Elementary Webinar for K-5 families. The webinar will be focused on the new standards-based report card and will include information about its development, provide terminology clarification and address how standards are graded. On Monday, Miss MacDonnell's grade 4 students took a trip to the library to work on narrative nonfiction. Students enjoyed using the Who Was? books to track their thinking.

2022 TESTING SCHEDULE
Dale Street's testing schedule is set for the spring. As always it is most important that students attend school on the days of testing, so please plan appointments in a way that does not interfere with your child being in school on the following testing dates:
English Language Arts - Next-Generation MCAS
Who: Grades 4 (computer-based)
April 6th and April 7th
Who: Grade 5 (computer-based)
April 12th and April 13th
ELA Make-ups for grades 4 and 5 will take place on a rolling basis as needed

On Wednesday, Ms. Sager's after-school intramural club (Advocates for the Environment) had a great time on National Take a Hike Day. They gathered trash and recycling off Dale Street’s campus. What a great and thoughtful group!
Students in Mrs. Scott's fourth-grade class have been using the strategy of sketchnoting to show their thinking - this week's focus...narrative nonfiction.
Any student who completed the first three math challenges was entered into a raffle today. Our two lucky winners were Abby in Ms. Sager's class and Eva in Mr. Douglas' class. Special thanks to Dale Street math specialist for facilitating this awesome program.
Huge thank you to this season's Girls on the Run group. Recently, this group completed a service project to spruce up one of the girls' bathrooms. I am proud of them and grateful that they volunteered to beautify our school.
Dale Street PTO is collaborating with Medfield Outreach to put together and donate 50 mittens. We are asking families to purchase youth-size mittens and fill them with items such as Lip balm, hand lotion, tissues, candy, gift cards (gift cards should not exceed $10) and drop them off at the Dale Street Office by December 10th.

Reusable Water Bottle
Please send your child in with a refillable water bottle. We can't allow students to use the water fountains, but we do have two water bottle stations. Wearing masks can make your mouth drier and we do let students keep a bottle of water in school.
We will be holding virtual parent-teacher conferences this year on Thursday, December 9th from 12-3:30 p.m., and Tuesday, December 14th from 12:00-3:30 p.m. Be sure to sign up for a conference time with your child's teacher. These are early release days and students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Please update School Dismissal Manager to reflect your child's dismissal plans on these days.
