November 22, 2017 - Week 13

Greetings Dale Street Community,

Last Friday, the fifth grade students had a blast at the Grade 5 Kids' Night Out.  The students participated in games and dancing during this wonderful PTO sponsored event.  A big thank you to all of the parent volunteers for organizing and supervising this fantastic night. Here are some snapshots of the evening.....

The Dale Street Makerspace was recently included in the book The Kickstart Guide to Making Great Makerspaces by Laura Fleming.  What an honor for our school!  Special thanks to Mrs. Cowell and our very supportive and generous MCPE and PTO!
Ms. Warner (School Guidance Counselor) and Ms. Strekalovsky (School Psychologist) have been visiting Grade 4 classrooms recently to share our mindfulness lessons. The focus of their lessons has been empathy.  Ms. W. & Ms. S. will visit all Grade 5 classrooms during the month of December where they will focus on decision making.
Thank you, Mrs. S. & Ms. W!

The Dale Street student body will continue its Global Giving initiative after Thanksgiving with our Collation for Courage Craft Sale (11/28-11/30).  Crafts will cost between $3-$15. Check out the student-created episode 3 (link below) giving students and their families more information about Global Giving and the Coalition for Courage.

We are moving closer to winter and it sure has been a little colder.  Please be sure that your children are wearing appropriate, seasonal clothing and have coats, hats, mittens, etc….as they will be going outside for recess on most days.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

November 17, 2017 - Week 12

Hi Dale Street Families!

Another amazing week here at #beproudbedale!  Take a look.......

On behalf of the Dale Street staff, I would like to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to meet with our teachers over the past two weeks.  We strongly believe in the importance of the home/school connection and recognize that a strong working partnership results in the greatest success for our students. Thank you for all for your continued support!

Dale Street had a school-wide assembly this morning highlighting our school's Core Values.  Special thanks to the students in Mrs. Foley's class and Mrs. Lowerre's class for creating and leading the assembly.  They did an outstanding job! Please check out the video shown at the assembly.

Multiples Day was awesome at Dale Street today!  Thank you to all the students and staff who participated and all who have supported our Global Giving initiative.  I am thrilled to report that we raised a total of $258.00!

Pennies for a Purpose/Silver Sabotage Tally
Our final collection total for Pennies with a Purpose/ Silver Sabotage was $1,169.40!  We cannot thank our students, their families, and Dale Street staff enough for their continued generosity!

On Wednesday, music teacher Ms. Oxholm took the Dale Street Chorus to the Thomas Upham House to spread musical cheer to the residents.  The Chorus sounded amazing as they sang a series of songs celebrating our country and honoring our veterans.  Bravo, boys and girls!  Special thanks to the many parent volunteers who helped chaperone the trip.

Thanks to Elizabeth in Ms. Condon's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Elizabeth recommended Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier for "graphic novel fans and adventurers" because "it is an easy read and enjoyable!"  Elizabeth rated this book 5 stars!  Thanks Elizabeth!

Dale Street fourth graders modeled our Core Value of collaboration this week as they took time to blend and mix oil pastels to create colors.  So awesome!

This week we reached the 30th day of our 30th anniversary fundraising campaign. With your help we have reached close to $41,000. THANK YOU! However, we still have our sights set much higher for our teachers and our students. Could we double that in the next 30 days? Not without your help! So please give today and know you are supporting innovation in our schools and also maintaining the value of our special little town. Every gift counts towards our large goal, no matter the size.  Imagine what we could do together if every household was able to give what they can afford!  The possibilities are endless! Thank you, again, and please visit our website to donate today. www.medfieldcoalition.org

Students in Ms. Isaacson's class participated in a fun and creative writers' workshop this week. These young writers composed mini narrative stories based on coming home to a new dog!

Congratulations to Dale Street Health and PE teacher, Mrs. Pauline Carey for being selected to present at last week's MAHPERD (The Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) conference.  We are so lucky to have such a knowledgeable teacher and great person working with our young learners at Dale Street!

On Tuesday of this week Mrs. Cowell, Mrs. Lowerre and I had the amazing opportunity to present at the EdTechTeacher Innovation Summit in Boston.  Our session, So you have a makerspace...now what!? was attended by over 50 educators from across the state.
