We celebrated our last Positive Referral breakfast of the year this morning.  Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments.  Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral this year!

Attention all band and orchestra families:
Friday, June 17 will be the last day for band and orchestra for the year.  If your child will not be continuing in band/orchestra next year, please follow these instructions for instrument returns.

For all other students, INSTRUMENTS MUST BE BROUGHT HOME for the summer. Instruments may not be stored at the school.

Mr. Vaughn, Mrs. Campbell, and Mr. Marenghi visited Dale Street on Wednesday to speak to our 5th graders about their transition to Blake Middle School.  Although we are sad to see this group of fine students leave, we are excited for their bright futures!

Students in Ms. MacDonald's class and Mrs. Keane's class planned and created solar ovens.  It is great to see the students involved in the design and engineering process!
Special thanks to Blake Middle School students for visiting Dale Street this week to present 'Creature Features.'  These students truly did a fantastic job and it was so cool to have Dale Street alumni back at our school.

Students in Ms. Hayes' class took time this week to share their writing, science, and social studies projects.  Each of the girls and boys did a fantastic job!

Grade 5 will have their celebration on Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 AM in the Dale Street Gymnasium.

Transition day will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd.  Children will spend approximately 30 minutes in their new teacher's classroom, get a chance to meet their new classmates, and hear a little about what's to come in September.

SUMMER SKILLS

Many students have found it beneficial to work on strengthening math and/or language arts skills over the summer months.  For many years we have used a series of workbooks published by a company called Summer Skills.  These books have been successful in helping students practice and sharpen their skills.  Please be aware that some questions contained in the workbooks may cover topics that have been introduced but not yet mastered.  As a school, we feel that summer work is beneficial, as studies show that much of what is learned during the school year is lost over the summer months; however, this book is entirely OPTIONAL.  For more information, click here or go to www.SummerSkills.com

On behalf of all of the employees at the Dale Street School, I would like to wish all of the fathers and grandfathers a Happy Father's Day.

Thank you for reading this week's blog.  Have an awesome weekend!

Respectfully,
Steve
