Some of our incredible fifth grade students, accompanied by Mrs. Lowerre, Mrs. Callahan, and Mrs. Bassett, were selected to participate at the 2020 LearnLaunch in Boston today. What a great honor! These students did an amazing job sharing the innovative learning artifacts they have created at Dale Street! They had a blast sharing with educators how these activities enhanced their critical thinking and analytical skills. Bravo, young learners!
The students in Ms. DiPesa's fourth grade classroom, Ms. McKenzie's fifth grade classroom, and Ms. Condon's fifth grade classroom have been very busy preparing for our next Core Values assembly. Today, they filmed Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Marsden and Boston Celtics President, Mr. Gotham to hear their ideas about Continuous Growth. The school is so excited for next Friday's assembly!

There was such excitement at Dale Street this week as Mrs. Cowell unveiled our newly MCPE funded "Ride & Read" bikes. It was a great start, and we are very grateful to the MCPE for their continued generosity!

Valentine's Day is fast approaching....very exciting! In an effort to ensure safety for all of our students and staff, we are requesting that no food/candy be sent in with Valentine's cards. Teachers will be sending out information in the coming weeks to detail specific classroom celebrations. The Head Room Parent will be coordinating this effort. Each classroom will have a 'Party in a Bag'. Once again our very generous PTO will provide a brown bag to every student at Dale Street. These bags will be distributed on Friday, February 7th. Please have your child decorate (if they wish) or simply print their name on the brown paper bag. Please return the brown bag on the day of their classroom celebration filled with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack. Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy! The snack time and Valentine's themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules and will be planned/overseen by classroom teachers. Thank you in advance for your assistance to help create a fun and safe day at Dale Street!
This week Medfield School Resource Officer, Michelle Manganello began a unit with Grade 5 Health classes. Over the next few weeks, Officer Manganello will describe her role as a police officer, and help students with public and personal safety.

MCPE's Treasured Experiences Online Auction is OPEN for bidding! There's something for everyone from VIP seats at graduation, to dance and ice cream parties with teachers to student principal for a day! Go to medfieldcoalition.org to start bidding!
Girls on the Run registration is officially open for the Spring! Participants will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:55 (dismiss straight from school) to 4:15 at Dale. The season will begin for Dale students on Tuesday, March 31st, with a season ending 5K planned for the first week of June. If your daughter has participated in previous seasons, please be aware that the curriculum will be different from past seasons.

Students in Mrs. Dowd's fourth grade class had a great time playing Disruptus in MakerSpace this week with Mrs. Lowerre. This activity provided students a great way to get those creative juices flowing.
The Dale Street Student Council representatives are collecting board games, small, new stuffed animals, DVD's, and money for the children with cancer at Children's Hospital during Trimester II. There are collection bins at Dale Street now through Friday, February 14th to collect donated items. Any monetary donations can be turned into the office.
Our next Spirit Day will be on Friday, February 7th with the theme.....CAREER DAY!! Students and staff are encouraged to dress up on this day as a career they would like to pursue (i.e. basketball player, chef, photographer, scientist)

Last year was our first annual Empty Bowls event, and this year we are back at it! For those who may not remember, Empty Bowls is a collaborative community dinner of soup and bread to raise money for Medfield Food Cupboard.
A $25 ticket bought in advance gets you dinner along with two pottery classes at the High School to create a bowl to eat dinner out of and bring home with you.
No time to make your own bowl? Choose a handmade bowl at dinner, fill it with delicious soup donated by local restaurants, and take your bowl home with you! All ages welcome!
While advanced sign up is required, payments can be made via cash, check, or Venmo at the door.
Last year was a lot of fun and we raised almost $2000 for the Medfield Food Cupboard! Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we hope to see you there!
Videos, math journals, teacher table, and games were all included in Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade math lesson on Monday. The students loved the opportunity to participate in this playlist lesson.
