March 26, 2021 - Week 24

Hello Dale Street Families,

Monday was amazing!  We are so excited to have all our in-person learners back at school full time.  We welcomed the kids back with inspirational messages, balloons, dancing, cheering, and DJs!  Thank you to the PTO for all of their support over the past few weeks helping us get ready for this day and special thanks to our wonderful DJs, Mrs. Kidd and Mrs. Wysocki.  










New Arrival and Dismissal Locations as of March 22nd

With the return to all in-person learning, we are making a few adjustments to the drop-off and pick-up locations to streamline the flow of traffic.  Please review the following locations to ensure a smooth transition.

Arrival

Students with last names A - K should be dropped off at the Dale Street semicircle

Students with last names L - Z should be dropped off in the staff parking lot

Dismissal 

First Pick Up at 3:00 p.m. 

Students with last names beginning with A-B and F-H in the Dale Street semicircle

Students with last name beginning with C-E and I-K in the staff parking lot

Second Pick Up at 3:10 p.m. 

Students with last names beginning with L and N-S in the Dale Street semicircle

Students with last names beginning with M and T-Z in the staff parking lot

PLEASE REMEMBER TO UPDATE SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER (SDM) with your child's dismissal plans based on the new all in-person schedule.  As buses have been reassigned and more students will be riding the bus, please make sure SDM is accurate to help us get your child home safely.  Click here for instructions on how to change your child's default dismissal in SDM. 

Congratulations to Mrs. Ross', Mrs. Seaver's, and Ms. Johnson's fifth grade class for receiving a class Positive Referral this week.  These students identified a lunch area on the field that was littered with trash.  These ROCKSTARS filled 2 bags of trash - all in an effort to make our school a better place.  Thank you! 

On Thursday, I had the great opportunity to facilitate reader's workshop in Mrs. Chamblin's grade 5 class.  Students collaborated in book groups to complete items from a book response menu.  Book club members participated in meaningful and accountable discussions.  It was awesome! Bravo, young learners!     

On Tuesday, March 30th, at 4 p.m., the Elementary Principals will be holding a webinar to discuss placement procedures for the 2021-2022 school year.  If you have a specific question you would like addressed or if there is a particular placement topic you would like discussed, please complete this form by Sunday, March 28th.

For our GRADE 5 PARENTS: On Tuesday, April 6th, at 5:30 p.m., we will be holding a webinar for parents about the upcoming Grade 5 Health Unit on Adolescent Changes.  If you have a specific question you would like addressed or if there is a particular topic about this unit you would like discussed, please complete this form by Sunday, April 4th.

On Tuesday, fifth-grade students in Miss McKenzie's class took math outside.  These mathematicians were working on patterns and tables.  Students were tasked with creating a math problem for their classmates to solve and then students participated in a gallery walk to preview and practice. Nice work!  




March 31st will be our last half-day Wednesdays for ALL in-person learning students. 

  • Dale Street Students - 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  
  • Lunch will be from 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
  • Dismissal will begin at 12:30 p.m.  

Beginning the week of April 5th, Wednesdays will move to full-days for all in-person learning students.

Thank you to the PTO for all their support during our reopening.  What an awesome way to start the day for our teachers who have worked so hard getting ready for all in-person school.

The PTO Door Decorating Contest was a huge success!  All of the classroom doors looked AMAZING.

Congratulations to Ms. Slachta's class (Grade 4 winner) and Mrs. Ross'/Mrs.Seaver's/Ms. Johnson's class (Grade 5 winner)!  The winning classrooms received a cool foam finger.






The Dale Street Math Challenge is on!  Students are free to solve as many problems as they can and will have about a week to turn in their work. Students can hand in a hard copy of the challenge to the office or email it to Mrs. Perachi (bperachi@email.medfield.net) prior to the due date.

It is nice to hear music in the halls of Dale Street once again.  Our music lessons are back on and we are so glad our students can have their music lessons in person.  Grade 5 students will also be able to participate in weekly ensembles beginning on Wednesday, April 7th.  Grade 5 students will participate during their WIN (What I Need) block.  This will help us keep the numbers low and meet distancing requirements.  






In our first week back altogether, we have seen an uptick in students bringing electronic devices to school.  As a reminder, the handbook states, Students will not be in possession of any electronic devices including cell phones, iPods, handhelds, Nintendo DS, Kindles, etc…without the express permission of the principal.  If you need to get in touch with your child during school hours, please contact the front office. Thank you in advance for your support.

This week, grade 5 students in Mrs. Hayes' class worked on an illustrated timeline project to show their learning about events from the French and Indian War, The Stamp Act, The Boston Massacre, and everything in between. It was great to see their creativity shine while also digging deeper into each event!

March 19, 2021 - Week 23

Happy Friday Dale Street Families,

What an amazing week here at #beproudbedale! Custodians worked tremendously hard to get furniture all set up, parent volunteers came in to lend a hand all while students and teachers continued to produce awesomeness in the Dale Street classrooms.  Please take a minute to check out some of the sights and updates from this week.     

We are excited to see ALL of our in-person learning students on Monday! Here is an important letter that went home to families this week outlining information you need to be aware of for our Monday Re-Opening. Thank you for all you have done to support your children and our school!   

The classrooms students walk into on Monday will look a little different than the ones they left last week.  Student desks will be spaced 4-5 ft apart in the classrooms. Here are some visuals for students of what classrooms will look like.

We will be holding the second day of virtual parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, March 23rd from 12:00-3:30 p.m. These are early release days and students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.  Please be sure to update School Dismissal Manager to reflect your child's dismissal plans on these days.
