November 20, 2020 - Week 10

Hello Dale Street Community,

Thanks for taking the time to check in on the sights and information from our week.  Although the weather was a little different this week compared to the prior weeks, Dale Street students and staff were still focused and on task while in-person and remotely.  Have a look...

On Wednesday, Grade 4 students used their math skills (partial products) to 'save' the Macy’s Day Parade.  #makinglearningfun!

In World Language this week with Señora LeVangie and Señora DellaMonica, Grade 4 students spent time discussing school subjects they like and dislike.  ¿Te gusta la clase de música? Buen Trabajo, everyone!

Please make note of the following important change to the schedules for Cohort A & B for the upcoming week.

On Tuesday, November 24th, students in Cohort B will attend school in-person while students in Cohort A will work remotely.  This change results from discussions concerning the length of time between in-person learning days for Cohort B due to the Thanksgiving recess.  Making this switch allows both of our cohorts to receive in-person instruction during the week of November 23rd.

Please note that virtual notebooks will be adjusted to reflect this change for both cohorts and that teachers will conduct a morning check-in with Cohort A on Tuesday, November 24th.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with this adjustment.

Wednesday, Nov 25, is an early release day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.

Please make sure you have updated School Dismissal Manager to accurately reflect your child's dismissal plans for these days!

In Mrs. Chamblin's fifth grade class this week, students had a great time collaborating about the lost colony of Roanoke.  Their conversations were thoughtful and evidence-based.  Great work!

The Dale Street Student Council met this past Wednesday.  These students are AMAZING! Our discussion centered around their initiative to support local restaurants during the pandemic.  Beginning last week, 2 restaurants are sponsored by the Dale Street Student Council and their classmates.  Be sure to help our local restaurants!  Here are this week's Medfield food establishments:

“Basil is the realization of a personal dream that became a neighborhood icon.”

Looking for a place with American cuisine with an Italian soul? Then Basil is the place for you! Basil is a family-owned restaurant in Medfield that opened in 1999. At Basil, you can dine in by reservation, takeout with curbside pickup as well as offering a catering service for your next special event. Each dish that is offered on the menu is mouthwatering and scrumptious. You will not be disappointed.
Some amazing dishes they offer are :
  • Hearts of Lettuce salad with creamy gorgonzola cheese dressing, bacon, and diced tomatoes
  • Risotto with roasted red peppers served with asparagus and your choice of chicken, steak tips,
  • shrimp or salmon
  • Linguine with meat sauce and sausage in a flavorful marinara sauce
  • Kid cheeseburger with tasty fries
  • Heavenly Key Lime Pie
Please support this wonderful Medfield restaurant as the student council is trying to raise money for businesses due to the pandemic. Basil is being promoted the week of November 30th-December 4th.
