This week, students in Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class used writer's workshop time to compose narratives that highlighted a character and their traits. Such well-written pieces!
Positive Referral!!!
These students received a Positive Referral this week for their efforts to collaborate and share out. Terrific job!
How would you solve this problem...Five kids are at the park and everyone wants to meet (and shake hands with) everyone else. How many handshakes happen if each kid shakes hands with every other kid exactly once? Well....Mr. Mason's fifth grade class used the platform CueThink to work through the problem. Very cool!
Digital Citizenship Assembly
I am pleased to share that we held a student assembly today highlighting Digital Citizenship. Digital citizenship is defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use. The focus of our time together was cyberbullying. Special thanks to the Dale Street SWAT (Students Working to Advance Technology) for their assistance with the assembly and a big thank you to Dale Street staff, Mrs. Cowell, Mrs. Fromen and Mrs. Rosen for organizing this important meeting. It was great to get the opportunity to visit Señora DellaMonica's World Language class this week. Students used their time to identify school materials, express what school materials they have and ask someone about the school materials they have.

Thank you to Mrs. Smith for visiting our school on Thursday to share information regarding the MFi Angel Run. The 12th running of the family friendly run/fun-run/walk is Sunday, December 3rd at 12:30 p.m. Register online at MedfieldFoundation.org. All proceeds go to help Medfield residents in need.
The first Principal’s Coffee of the year will be on Thursday, November 2nd. The topics will include the 2017 MCAS results and helpful hints for parents as Parent/Teacher conferences approach. This Principal's Coffee will begin at 8:45 a.m. in the Dale Street School cafeteria. Feel free to bring younger children if childcare is an issue.

Special thanks to our fourth grade recycling group for starting up a recycling station in the Dale Street cafeteria. These AWESOME young learners also took time this week to assist students and staff with our new recycling station.  |
Wondering where that lunch box went? Where could that sweatshirt be? Check out the Dale St Lost & Found! It is overflowing with lunch boxes, water bottles, clothing, etc. All items will be given to charity at the start of winter break so check it out soon!
Parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. Letters to families were sent out today. Click here to view the letter. Conferences are a wonderful time to check in with your child's teacher about their academic and social/emotional growth. Conference dates are set for Thursday, November 9th and Tuesday, November 14th. Both days are half days for the students with dismissal at 11:40 a.m. Please note that Term I report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, December 13th.
...that 4 of our Dale Street staff were selected to present at MassCUE at Gillette Stadium this week. Marissa Foley, Kerry Cowell, Maura Condon and Debby Fromen all presented at this well respected technology conference. They did a wonderful job and truly represented Dale Street and Medfield well!
Blake Theater - Elf Jr!
Blake Theater’s production of Elf Jr. is weeks away. The shows are Nov 17th & 18th at 7:00 pm and Nov 19th at 3:00 pm.

Halloween at Dale Street
The Dale Street staff enjoys making Halloween a safe, exciting, and consistent experience for all students. On Tuesday, October 31st, all of our classrooms:
- encourage all students to dress up in their costumes. Please note that students’ faces may not be covered with a mask, hood, or other item. Please do not allow your child to bring fake weapons into school to accompany his/her costume, and particularly violent themes should be avoided.
- will have Halloween themed activities. Activities will be teacher-directed and run throughout the day.
- will have classroom snacks sent into school on October 31st. The Head Room Parent will be coordinating this effort. Please keep food and drink to these four categories: something crunchy, something sweet, a healthy fruit, and water. Additionally, please be sensitive of allergies within classrooms. The snack time and the Halloween themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules.
We understand, and are happy that the children will receive a plethora of treats on Halloween night. Come Wednesday, the staff at Dale Street encourages healthy foods for student snack times to help promote optimal learning. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
Medfield High School’s UNICEF Club is coordinating with the principals of Memorial, Wheelock and Dale Street Schools to bring Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF back to Medfield this Halloween. Students will receive their UNICEF collection boxes on Friday, October 27th. Be sure to check your child’s backpack!
Club members ask that residents who plan on passing out candy this Halloween also set aside spare change for the children collecting donations for UNICEF.
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 67 years ago as a way to help children still affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door-to-door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!” Since it’s inception in 1950, more than $175 million has been raised through UNICEF. This year, funds raised through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF will support UNICEF’s emergency relief work for children affected by recent disasters.
The MHS UNICEF Club asks that children bring their boxes back to school on Wednesday, November 1st but no later than Friday, November 3. Medfield High School UNICEF Club members will collect the boxes, count the coins and send Medfield's generous contributions to UNICEF.
