This is the last blog post of the 2019-2020 school year. I want to thank the entire Dale Street community for all of your support in this time of such uncertainty. The last 2 and half months were like nothing we have ever experienced. I am so proud of all of our Dale Street Rockstars and all of our families. Remote learning is challenging for sure. Families, thank you so much for partnering with us, and in many cases putting your world on hold. I continue to be amazed by the number of emails and phone calls that I receive checking in on our staff and thanking us for all the work we were doing - amazing! I am so honored to be the principal at #beproudbedale and so proud to be part of this unbelievable community. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Today, Mrs. Stover and the 4th and 5th-grade orchestra students used time during their Zoom to play a rhythm game. Hats off to these dedicated musicians for persevering and continuing to improve their musicianship no matter what!
On Thursday, Blake Middle School Principal, Mr. Vaughn and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Campbell hosted a transition meeting for Dale Street 5th graders. It was a wonderful meeting and Mr. Vaugh and Mrs. Campbell shared important information and good advice about Blake Middle School.
- Transition Day for Incoming 6th Graders will be Monday, June 15, at 9am. Zoom details will be sent by Blake Middle School.
- Incoming 4th and 5th Graders will receive an email from their new teacher on Monday, June 15. This email will include Zoom meetings details for a class zoom which will be held on Tuesday, June 16 (11am - Incoming Grade 4, 11:30am - Incoming Grade 5).
Grade 5 - If anyone wants to order a non-custom book, please see this flyer with information to do so. The total with tax and shipping is around $34.00. Anyone who ordered before the deadline had no or reduced shipping, which is why it is more expensive after the deadline. There is no time limit on ordering.

Callahan, and Mrs. Cowell for all of their hard work putting together this amazing opportunity. All the information can be found here. This is where you can locate some great Dale Street book recommendations and check out some incredible authors.

Summer will be here soon and we would like to share with you Blake's Summer Reading Program. Blake Middle School believes that independent reading for pleasure is invaluable to students' life-long learning, and it needs to be encouraged and cultivated. The middle school's summer reading program strives to foster a love of reading through student choice and also encourages students to read a carefully selected book that reflects Blake Middle School's values around literature.
The summer reading requirement is at least two books; we encourage students to read consistently throughout the summer as there are so many benefits to reading. Please see the attached flyer for your student's summer reading core choices, book talks of the core choices by teachers, and other suggested titles. In September, your student's English teacher will expect students to be able to talk, write, or complete a small activity around what they have read -- the purpose being to share and celebrate their reading. While not required, if you are interested in purchasing any summer reading books, Medfield Schools has partnered with Park Street Books for a virtual book fair that will open and run throughout next week. Be on the lookout for an email with more information and a link to Park Street's book fair site.

Each school day, I place a student challenge of the day in my virtual office. This week students had the opportunity to tell what puts them in a good mood, what they think is the greatest invention of all time, what they want to be when they grow up, and what their favorite part of their classroom was this year. When I’m feeling down I like to do something that makes me feel better, such as drawing or doing arts and crafts, having a snack, playing outside, and playing with my brothers or neighbors. ~Grace

Here is the latest edition of The Dale Street Times! Ms. Condon and I are so impressed with this group of reporters. Even during quarantine, Ms. Condon and these students met and they were able to keep the Dale Street Times going. Thank you!
On Monday, I was so happy to recognize the amazing #beproudbedale staff. We so appreciate our incredible staff and the hard work they do every day, especially during this remote learning phase. Special thanks to our wonderful PTO for partnering with us to make this happen.
Like in past years, we are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to get all your supplies for your student for the next school year.
The teachers have given us the supply list for each grade and 1st Day School Supplies will assemble and deliver them for your child. Sign up now so you don't have to worry about where or how to get the exact supplies you need. All name brand supplies will be packaged individually for your student and shipped to the school. Depending on what the schools decide to do upon re-opening, kits will either be located in their classrooms or we will arrange a time for you to come pick up your kit.
Given the new normal we are all experiencing in regards to shopping for supplies, this is an even more available service provided by the K-5 PTO to keep everyone safe and your stress low.

Mrs. Lowerre is retiring from Dale Street after 16 years of dedicated service to the Medfield Public Schools. It has been an honor and a pleasure to get to know Mrs. Lowerre on both a professional and personal basis. I so admire Mrs. Lowerre’s commitment to our students, her passion for education, and the dedication she put into her planning. This combination led to incredible learning opportunities for Dale Street students. Thank you for this. I know the staff and students at Dale Street will miss you. It is our sincere hope that your retirement years will bring you joy and fulfillment.
Mr. Mason is retiring after 31 years of dedicated service to the Medfield Public Schools. It has also been an honor and pleasure to get to know Mr. Mason on both a professional and personal basis. For those who know him around the school, you never knew if he would arrive at school in feety pajamas, his disco attire or as Mr. Clean. That is who Mr. Mason is...a caring, fun-loving, committed educator. He loved his job and that showed every day. The many students who had Mr. Mason as a teacher or a coach were lucky to have such a wonderful teacher. A fun fact for everyone...Mr. Mason also created the #beproudbedale hashtag! Congratulations, Mr. Mason on your well-deserved retirement. Best wishes for a healthy and happy retirement.
