March 29, 2019 - Week 29

Dear Dale Street Families,

Time certainly flies when you are having fun.  What an amazing week! Check out some of the awesomeness from our #beproudbedale students and staff this week......
Last Friday our fourth grade students had a blast at the PTO organized Kids' Night Out.  Special thanks to our fantastic PTO and all of the parent volunteers who came out to assist.

Congratulations to all of the Dale Street MCPE Spelling Bee participants and our  Winning Team - Better Than Autocorrect (Cassidy & Athena). Way to Go!!  A huge thank you to the MCPE for organizing this awesome event and for always supporting our students and staff!

Mrs. Ross' fourth grade students had some fun with a hands-on math activity on Thursday.  Mrs. Ross and her students took time exploring capacity and equivalence during their math workshop.  Love to see happy learners and happy teacher!

Thanks to Julian in Mr. Mason's class for reading today's book recommendation.   Julian recommended Brick Greek Myths by Amanda Brack, Monica Sweeney and Becky Thomas for someone who 'likes legos and Greek myths."  Julian rated this book 5 out of 5 stars!  Thanks Julian!

Congratulations to our final four teams for Dale Street's Free Throw Shooting contest.  The D Ballers, Dunkin' Donuts, Bertsch Boys and Swishing Sisters (some players are missing from the photo) will shoot for the championship next Friday at a school-wide assembly.  Good luck!

letter was sent out yesterday offering parents the opportunity to share information about their son/daughter for next year’s placement at Dale Street.  The information that you share will be used to assist me with the student placement process for the 2019 – 2020 school year.  When corresponding about placement, parents are asked to focus on the type of learning environment that best meets the strengths and needs of their child.  Please know that throughout the placement process our focus will be on placing your child in a classroom in which they will grow both academically and socially. For other suggestions regarding the parent narrative, you are asked to visit Dale Street's homepage and view the March 8th principal's coffee slide show.

Today in Mrs. Lowerre's fifth grade classroom, students participated in a hands-on food chain lesson.  Music, student discussion and falling dominoes made it so much fun!

Bravo & congratulations to Mrs. Dowd's students and Miss Isaacson's students for a fabulous North America fair today!  These young learners were very well prepared and demonstrated wonderful understanding of their countries.

The nurse will be confidentially weighing and measuring fourth grade students per MA Department of Public Health regulations next week during their Physical Education class. Please contact Mrs. Thompson with any questions or concerns at 508-242-8573 or at kthompson@email.medfield.net.

This week, Mrs. Crable's fourth grade class and Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class took a trip to our Makerspace to create artifacts for their North America research projects.

The Dale Street School Site Council is requesting your feedback.  The following survey addresses many topics, including technology, homework, communication, curriculum and culture.  The information from this survey will be used when creating Dale Street's next School Improvement Plan.  We truly value your feedback and thank you in advance for your time in completing this brief 2 minute survey.  Please respond by March 31st.

Mrs. Foley's and Ms. Costello's fifth grade students shared their classrooms this week with some pretty awesome guests.....ROBOTS!  Students made these wonderful creations as part of their volume unit.  The smiles tell the story!

Here’s an easy way to say "thanks" to Dale's teachers!  Teachers have indicated wished-for classroom supply items on tags hanging from a “tree” (see above) in the front hallway. When you’re in the building for conferences, feel free to grab a tag or two from your child’s teacher or any of the specialist teachers to fulfill some of their wishes!

Congratulations to Mrs. Oxholm and all of our Dale Street performers who participated in last weekend's Big Sing!  You were amazing and represented our school and the town of Medfield brilliantly!

The Lost and Found is overflowing!  Items have been placed in the front hallway so please check for missing items the next time you are in.  All unclaimed items will be donated on April 12th.

Tuesday, April 2 - Grade 4 field trip to the Museum of Science.   Field trip buses are scheduled to depart immediately after morning announcements.  It will not be possible to wait for tardy students on this day.  We will return to school in time for regular dismissal. All students will need to bring a snack and lunch to eat at the museum.  Please note that lunch bags need to be disposable, and glass items of any type are prohibited.

Thursday, April 4 - No school for students.  Digital Learning Day for Medfield School Staff.

Tuesday, April 9 - Gr 4 ELA MCAS

Wednesday, April 10 - Gr 4 ELA MCAS

Have a wonderful weekend!

Steve
