March 17, 2023 - Week 26

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Dale Street!

What a spectacular week!  #beproudbedale students were involved in so many wonderful activities this week.  I am a proud and privileged principal to work every day with the incredible students and staff at Dale Street!

ReminderYour student's Term 2 Report Card has been published to the Aspen portal. Please log into the Aspen portal to view your student's Report Card.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

This week with Mrs. Tumbleson, one of Dale Street's Grade 5 trumpet groups played an arrangement of the Avengers theme.  These students are so talented!

¿Qué tiempo hace? This week in World Language with Señora LeVagie, Grade 4 students led a weather song!  They did a wonderful job!

If you have a specific question you would like addressed, or if there is a particular placement topic you would like discussed, please complete this form by Sunday, March 26th.

Positive Sign Thursday!

'WE ARE INCLUSIVE!'

The Medfield Elementary Literacy Night and Book Fair is next week!!

Come bring your family and join us at our Medfield Elementary Literacy Night and Book Fair.  Fun interactive reading activities are planned throughout the night, with special guest teachers reading their favorite books, and exciting raffles too!! Park Street Books will be setting up an amazing book sale with new releases and kid favorites across the grades, including PreK. Come get some new books and support our schools!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for the Book Fair.   If interested, sign up here:

Students in Miss Isaacson's fourth-grade class were very proud of themselves (as they should be) as they began a unit on angles.  There are not too many better things than watching kids have fun when they are learning!

Are your kids excited yet?

MCPE’s annual Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at the Medfield High School auditorium. Students in grades 2-5 will practice T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K while putting their heads together to spell increasingly challenging words. All while in costume, of course. This Spelling Bee is always a ton of F-U N!

This week, even more Grade 4 classrooms got to experience our PTO-funded Root Robots.  Ms. Hayes' class and Mrs. Guiteriez's class used these awesome tools to complete some coding activities and take a closer look at perimeter.

The Round of 16 of our March Madness Tournament begins next week.  We still have a few students who have not completed their shots from this week.  The gym will be open at 7:50 a.m. on Monday so students can shoot if they did not have the chance to shoot this week.  Round of 32 scores will be posted in the cafeteria on Monday at lunch.  Students and staff who made it to the Round of 16 will need to shoot 10 free throws during one of the following days: Tuesday, 3/21 or Friday, 3/24, between 7:50 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.  Please note that all team members do not have to come on the same day, but all need to shoot the free throws by Friday, 3/24.

For the month of March, the Dale Street Student Council has voted to collect items for Boston Children's Hospital!  The Student Council is asking students to bring new (packaged) arts and crafts materials as well as gift cards elementary-aged students may be able to use.  We will begin collecting on Monday, March 6th, and will continue until Thursday, March 30th.

This week, Mrs. Flynn's fourth-grade class worked with Dale Street Technology Integrationist, Mr. Ahern and our MCPE-Funded Sphero Robots.  Their goal will be to program the robots with angle measures to navigate through a maze as they enter a unit on geometry!

Movie Night

The School Committee and the Medfield Energy Committee are co-sponsoring the movie “Catching the Sun’ on solar energy.  Solar energy is an important part of Medfield’s Climate Action Plan. Learn how the transition to solar power is taking shape in many diverse communities.

The movie will be shown twice - Monday night March 27th at 7pm in the Medfield High School auditorium and again on Sunday, April 2nd at 1pm in the Medfield Library meeting room.  Please join us.

What better day to have Lucky Plate Day than St. Patrick's Day?  Congratulations to these lucky students and special thanks to our awesome cafeteria staff!
