October 19, 2018 - Week 8

Hello Dale Street!

It was active and exciting at #beproudbedale this week.  We are happy to share some of the wonderful things that took place.

Fourth graders in Mrs. Dowd's classroom spent time this week visiting places from Egypt to Disney while working with longitude and latitude.  So much fun!

Congratulations to our Positive Referrals this week.  Thank you for making our school such a great place!   We are very proud of you!

This student used great self control and patience.

This student was extremely inclusive.

This student exemplified collaboration this week.

This student showed great patience and great communication skills.

This student was very helpful without even being asked.

Students in Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade classroom dove into their FOSS science kits and collaborated to produce light.  Great job!

The next Principal's Coffee will be held on Thursday, Nov 1st. The topics will include the 2018 MCAS results,  helpful hints for parents as Parent/Teacher conferences approach and a discussion about the new School Dismissal System. This Principal's Coffee will begin at 8:45 a.m. in the Dale Street School cafeteria.   Feel free to bring younger children if childcare is an issue.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, October 30th, if you are planning to attend.

Thanks to Mary-Clare in Mrs. Flynn's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Mary-Clare recommended Frazzled by Booki Vivat for "someone who likes funny books."  Mary-Clare rated this book 10 stars!  Thanks Mary-Clare!

In Mrs. Flynn's fourth grade classroom this week students worked with area model during math.

Vision Screening will be conducted next week by the Nurse Tuesday-Friday during PE classes.

Halloween at Dale Street

The Dale Street staff enjoys making Halloween a safe, exciting, and consistent experience for all students. On Wednesday, October 31st, all of our classrooms:

  • encourage all students to dress up in their costumes.  Please note that students’ faces may not be covered with a mask, hood, or other item. Please do not allow your child to bring fake weapons into school to accompany his/her costume, and particularly violent themes should be avoided.
  • will have Halloween themed activities.  Activities will be teacher-directed and run throughout the day.
  • will have classroom snacks sent into school on October 31st.  The Head Room Parent will be coordinating this effort.  Please keep food and drink to these four categories: something crunchy, something sweet, a healthy fruit, and water.  Additionally, please be sensitive of allergies within classrooms.  The snack time and the Halloween themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules.

We understand, and are happy that the children will receive a plethora of treats on Halloween night. Come Thursday, the staff at Dale Street encourages healthy foods for student snack times to help promote optimal learning.  Thank you in advance for your continued support.
