October 12, 2018 - Week 7

Hi Dale Street!

Another short, but productive and fun week here at #beproudbedale.  Check it out....

This week students in Señora LeVangie's and Señora DellaMonica's fifth grade World Language classes used Book Creator to showcase their Hispanic Heritage Month projects. Excelente!

Our school participated in a bus evacuation on Tuesday.  All students (regardless of whether they ride the bus to and from school) participated in this important exercise.  Special thanks to Officer Manganello for her assistance with bus evacuation.

Mr. Douglas' fourth grade students worked with reading specialist, Mrs. Callahan this week on visualizing and how to make a 'movie in their mind' while they are reading.

Grade 5 Kids' Night Out

The first 5th grade Kids Night Out will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 7-8:30 pm. Cost for each child will be $15 at the door. This fall's event is themed "Mr Grenham's Great Library Escape (based on the Mr Lemoncello's Libary books). We will have games/stations based upon different popular children's books (ie Cyclops Cornhole represents the Percy Jackson books), as well as the "Guess How Many Jars", a new DJ to play music and entertain the kids in the cafeteria, and much more. We need parent volunteers to make this a fun and safe event for the kids. Please consider signing up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b44afa728a7fc1-spring Thank you!

On a visit to Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade classroom this week, students used a budget to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner off student-created menus.  What a fun way to learn how to add and subtract decimals!

Our Elementary Guidance Department recently developed a new website.  Take a look...

Thanks to Abby in Mrs. Flynn's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Abby recommended El Deafo by CeCe Bell for "people who like true stories based on difficulties."  Abby rated this book 4 stars!  Thanks Abby!

In Art class with Mrs. Delaney this week, students worked on showing a figure in action.  Their work is awesome!
