May 26, 2017 - Week 36

Hello Dale Street Community:

Wow!  It was a busy and spectacular week here at #beproudbedale this week. Take a look at some of the awesome things that took place......

Today our school had a Memorial Day assembly. The students did a remarkable job.  We heard a beautiful song from the Dale Street Band.  Grade 5 students Jason Gelormini (5Walunas) and Sean Watts (5Curran) recited the Gettysburg Address, and Sadie Cumming (5Foley) played Taps.
It was a wonderful morning!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!  Thank you for making Dale Street such a great place!

Thanks to Luke in Ms. Walunas' class for reading today's book recommendation.  Luke recommended The Crossover by Kwame Alexander  for people who like basketball and rap.  He recommended it because "there are cool raps and it's very interesting."  Luke gave this book 5 stars.  Thanks Luke!

Congratulations to the 4th and 5th grade Orchestra for their wonderful concert on Tuesday night.  The students sounded amazing!  Special thanks to our fantastic music instructor, Mrs. Brenna Evans, for directing such a great concert!

Thank you to all the Dale Street families who came out to Family Literacy Night on Wednesday.  There were so many amazing opportunities for the students and their families.  Special thanks to Jamee Callahan for organizing such a great event!

Ms. Burnham's class held an awesome Memorial Day program on Wednesday.  Bravo young learners!

Congratulations and amazing job to the 4th and 5th grade chorus!  On Thursday night, these students performed at the high school for their families and guests.  Their performance was fantastic! Thank you to Ms. Oxholm for her outstanding leadership with the Dale Street chorus.

Mr. Mason's fifth grade class spent time this week working on planet projects using various mediums.

Special thanks to Blake librarian, Mr. Haycock for visiting our fifth graders today.  Mr. Haycock took time to share expectations of Blake's summer reading initiative.  If you would like more information regarding the Blake summer reading initiative, please visit this site.

Grab your boarding pass....many of our grade 4 classrooms shared their phenomenal state projects this week!

Students in grades 4 and 5 completed the spring administration of MCAS this week. Each and every one of them should be commended for the hard work and determination they demonstrated while answering multiple choice, short answer, and open response questions.  Great job, young learners!

Summer Skills Book
Many students have found it beneficial to work on strengthening math and/or language arts skills over the summer months.  For many years we have used a series of workbooks published by a company called Summer Skills.  These books have been successful in helping students practice and sharpen their skills.  Summer Skills Order Info
