November 18, 2016 - Week 12

Hi Dale Street Families!

On behalf of the Dale Street staff, I would like to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to meet with our teachers over the past two weeks.  We strongly believe in the importance of the home/school connection and recognize that a strong working partnership results in the greatest success for our students. Thank you for all for your continued support!

What was going on at #BeProudBeDale this week.......

Pajama Day was awesome at Dale Street today!  Thank you to all the students and staff who participated and all who have supported our Global Giving initiative!

On Thursday, our Grade 5 students donned their fancy attire for the day at the Wheelock Family Theatre to see the production of Akeelah and the Bee.  Students and staff loved the performance!

Ms. DiPesa's fourth grade class participated in writer's workshop on Monday. The topic...."How to make a turkey." 😃

Mr. Douglas' class took time to visit the #beproudbedale makerspace.  What a great opportunity for creative collaboration!

Thanks to Greta for reading our book recommendation today.  Greta recommended and gave 5 stars to The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer because it gets you attached right away and is jammed packed.  Well done, Greta!

Mr. Mason's fifth grade class tested out density trying this experiment on Wednesday!
#scientists #fun

Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade class was involved in math workshop on Thursday.  Students rotated through centers to gain a better understanding of factors and multiples.

Mrs. Lowerre's fifth grade class took time to work in the LMC today.  It is incredible to see student-driven learning!

Positive Referral!!!
These students received Positive Referrals this week for being excellent helpers and super school citizens.  Great work!

The LMC is looking for donations of any type of duct tape that you may have or can provide.  If you would like to donate duct tape, it can be sent in to Dale Street and brought down to Mrs. Cowell in the LMC.  Thank you!
Dale Street staff were involved in a 'Diversity in Literature' curriculum meeting on Wednesday after school.  Mrs. Cowell, Ms. Groden, Ms. Robertson, and Mrs. Callahan did a wonderful job presenting.  This topic is particularly timely given the changes in the ELA and Literacy standards and the recent discussions around the election.

Next week there will be a half day of school on Wednesday, November 23rd (11:40 a.m. dismissal) and no school on November 24th and 25th due to Thanksgiving break.

Thank you for reading!  Have a relaxing weekend!

Sincerely,
Steve
