Thank you to all the Dale Street families who came out to Family Literacy Night last evening. There were so many amazing opportunities for the students and their families. Special thanks to Jamee Callahan for organizing such a great event, our fabulous PTO, the wonderful staff volunteers, and the many, many families who attended!
We love and have had such great feedback regrading School Dismissal Manager. However, the office staff is seeing a growing trend over the past few weeks where students (some days maybe 30 students) are coming to the office after the dismissal report is read by their teachers asking to confirm dismissal plans because students feel that they are not accurate. Although we always love seeing and interacting with our amazing students, I am sure you can understand how very challenging it is to get all the students the information they are seeking, confused about, or confirming in the last 20-30 minutes of the school day. We ask that you have a conversation with your child(ren) the night before or the morning of school to remind them what you filled out for that day on School Dismissal Manager. Thank you in advance for you support with this very important process!

2020 TESTING SCHEDULE
Dale Street's testing schedule is set for the spring. As always it is most important that students attend school on the days of testing, so please plan appointments in a way that does not interfere with your child being in school on the following testing dates:
English Language Arts - Next Generation MCAS

April 7th and April 8th
Who: Grade 5 (computer-based)
April 14th and April 15th
ELA Make-ups for grades 4 and 5 will take place on a rolling basis as needed

Dale Street Building Update
On Tuesday, Dr. Marsden, Mr. LaFrancesca, Mr. Brehm, Mr. Quinlan and I visited the MSBA building in Boston for the next phase of the building project. Four architectural firms interviewed to become the architect for the new building project. The company Arrowstreet was selected as the architect/designer. We are all looking forward to collaborating on this exciting project!

The Dale Street student body continued its Global Giving initiative this week with the Pennies for a Purpose/Silver Sabotage contest. Thanks to all for your continued generosity. All donations will be calculated this weekend and the total will be reported next week. Be on the look out for the student-created episode 2 video which will be included in next week's blog.
November 20-22: Wire Craft Sale
We will be selling handmade Zimbabwean Wire Crafts during lunches this week. Cost of items will range from $3-$20.
Several wire crafts will be raffled. Raffle tickets cost $1.00 each.
There will also be some buttons and bracelets on sale for a low price.

Students in Mrs. Nee's fifth grade classroom had fun using autodraw to help them create a visual of the setting from the book they are reading in reader's workshop. So creative!
The Dale Street Student Council representatives (with input from their classmates) have voted to collect mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to keep homeless adults warm this winter. There will be collection bins at Dale Street from November 12th - November 22nd to collect donated items.
Our next Spirit Day will be on Friday, November 22nd with the theme.....COMFY DAY!!
This week, Mr. Mason's grade 5 students worked with Dale Street guidance counselor, Ms. Warner and the Sanford Harmony program to learn more about empathy and having an open mind. So important and great student discussion!
