There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.
~Mr. Rogers
Dear Dale Street Families,
Wow - what a great week! This morning we held our first Core Value assembly of the year. We talked about kindness and its importance. We learned about the King of Kindness, Mr. Rogers. I also showed students this news clip that was on the news last night that perfectly highlighted our discussion. We ended with a #collaborative Sanford Harmony SEL task: making a clap, snap, clap, snap pattern with a partner. It was great to have the students all together! The students were reminded that kindness is the thing that matters most. Please ask your child how they liked the assembly.
On Monday, students in Ms. McKenzie's fifth grade class learned more about multiplying decimals by working in groups to design their own Mayflower. What an engaging and empowering STEM activity!

Congratulations to our Positive Referral this week! Way to go!
Congratulations to our Wire Craft raffle winners for 2019! Special thanks to Ms. Sager and her class for organizing this event and all of the Dale Street community who donated to Coalition for Courage. Parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. This letter was sent out to families last week. Conferences are a wonderful time to check in with your child's teacher about their academic and social/emotional growth. Conference dates are set for Thursday, December 5th and Tuesday, December 10th. Both days are half days for the students with dismissal at 11:40 a.m. Please note that Term I report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, December 3rd. |
Thank you to Jackson for reading our book review this week. Jackson read Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson. This book inspired Jackson because, "She could not skate and she did not give up." Thanks, Jackson!
Congratulation to Gabby for winning the Dale Street Math Challenge!
Thanks to our DJs for the great playlists we got to listen to during lunches today!
Chess Wizards will be offering a 6 week class at Dale Street beginning January 3rd. For more information and to register, please click here. They will be providing a demo for students during recess on Friday, December 13th, for those interested in learning more.
We are looking to see if any family would be willing to volunteer to bring the collected items to the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Their location is 780 Albany Street Boston, MA. Please contact Christen or Megan in the office if you would be willing to volunteer. Thank you!
On Monday, students in Ms. MacDonnell's and Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade classrooms collaborated and found out that learning can be messy. They used stream tables to learn more about erosion. So cool!
Beginning Monday, November 25th, all trading cards (e.g. Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, etc.) will be prohibited at Dale Street School due to ongoing issues (loss, theft, bad feelings about trades).
If these cards are brought to school, they will be confiscated by school staff and brought to the office. For students who are in the Magic the Gathering intramural, cards may be brought on intramural days only, but must remain in the backpacks.
Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
Check out the PTO update with information about volunteer opportunities, fundraisers and more.
The staff at Dale Street works tremendously hard to connect with our young learners. We value the time we spend with students in and out of the classroom. Here is just another example....teachers spending lunchtime with students to build relationships. I am not sure who loves it more......the students or the teachers!
Thank you to everyone who helped make Fall Fest a success! From those that donated items and gave their time, to those who bought items and tickets and came out for a fun evening, we are grateful as always for the community’s support! Together we raised around $35,000 for our schools!
We are moving closer to winter and it sure has been a little colder. Please be sure that your children are wearing appropriate, seasonal clothing and have coats, hats, mittens, etc….as they will be going outside for recess on most days. Students will need snow boots and snow pants if they would like to play in the snow. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
This week, students in Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade class hypothesized whether air is matter. Through hands-on learning, these rock star learners proved that yes indeed, it takes up space!
Please check the Lost & Found for any lost items.
All unclaimed items will be donated on Dec 20th.
Mr. Mason's fifth grade class took full advantage of comfy day by relaxing in our awesome LMC. Thank you so much to the very generous MCPE for funding this great seating!
