Hello Dale Street Community!

Dale Street staff and students returned from February vacation refreshed, ready to learn and excited for a full week of school.  We hope that you all had a wonderful break!

There will be no school for students next Wednesday, March 8th.  Although students will be off from school on this day, all Medfield staff will be involved in professional development day centering around various technology apps and programs designed to enhance student learning (Digital Learning Day).

Yesterday our school celebrated Dr. Seuss Day.  Thank you to our guest readers: Superintendent, Dr. Marsden, Fire Chief, Bill Kingsbury, Police Chief, Bob Meaney, School Committee member Maryanne Sullivan, owner of Park Street Books, Jim James, HS Principal, Robert Parga, MS Principal, Nat Vaughn, Wheelock Principal, Donna Olson, Memorial Principal, Missy Bilsborough, Officer Manganello, Library Assistant, Susan Read, Library Media Specialist, Kerry Cowell, Athletic Director, Eric Scott, Medfield Patch Reporter, Colleen Sullivan, and retired Dale Street Reading Specialist, Anne Pendleton.  A very special thank you to Dale Street's Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Kerry Cowell and Library Assistant, Mrs. Susan Read for organizing this wonderful day for our school.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Thank you for making our school such a great place!

Opportunity to Support the Dale Street Library
Mrs. Cowell and Mr. James from Park Street Books are teaming up to offer an opportunity to purchase so fantastic book titles on Thursday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 21st.  Mr. James is providing Dale Street with 20 different titles to sell during the conference afternoons (12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.).  These tiles were chosen based on popularity in the library, student requests, and newer titles of high quality for 4th/5th graders.  A percentage of the profits will go directly to new books for the Dale Street library.  Please consider stopping by the Dale Street's library during the hours of 12-3 on March 16th and March 21st.

Congratulations to Mrs. Pauline Carey for recently being named Massachusetts Elementary Health Teacher of the Year!  We are truly fortunate to have Mrs. Carey on staff at Dale Street.  Bravo Pauline!

Special thanks to Mrs. Reilly for visiting on Thursday to share information about MCPE's upcoming Spelling Bee!

This week Mr. Mason's fifth grade class ventured outside to measure wind speed and find wind direction.  Thankfully they did this on Monday not Thursday 😄

Parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. Conferences are a wonderful time to check in with your child's teacher about their academic and social/emotional growth. Conference dates are set for Thursday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 21st. Both days are half days for the students with dismissal at 11:40 a.m.. Please note that Term II report cards will be sent home on Monday, March 27th.

Please remember 5th Grade Kids Night Out is next week, Friday, March 10th 7-8:30 pm. The theme is Warrior Pride. Please wear your Medfield Warrior gear or Blue and White! Games and contests in the gym; Wheel of WOW; Dancing, Trivia; door prizes. . . Refreshments and More! We are still in need of parent volunteers, if you are able to help, please contact Meredith Cumming at meredith.cumming@gmail.com.

Next Friday, March 10th, I will be hosting our second term Principal's Coffee.  During this time, we will talk about the process we will use for placing students in classrooms for 2017-2018 school year and we will detail some of the technology we use here at Dale Street. The coffee will begin at 8:45 a.m. in the Library Media Center.  Click here to RSVP.  Please note that if you are stuck for child care, please feel free to bring your little ones.  I hope that you will be able to stop in after you drop off your child(ren) on this day.  We will be providing refreshments for this presentation.

Thank you for taking time to read this week's Dale Street Blog!  Have an awesome weekend!

Respectfully,

Steve
