January 6, 2017 - Week 18

Happy New Year Dale Street!

We hope that you had a wonderful winter break!  The students and staff returned to Dale Street on Tuesday and the transition back to school was incredibly seamless!  Take a look at some of the wonderful things that took place at Dale Street this week.....

Positive Referrals!!!
These students received Positive Referrals this week for being super helpful and very responsible.  Awesome job!!

Ms. Condon's fifth grade class took time in Social Studies this week to focus on the effects of the Age of Exploration.  Students had the opportunity to rotate through different stations (identifying, writing, visualizing and analyzing).  Great discussions and a lot of fun!

Members of the Museum of Science visited our school this week and provided a presentation on Animal Adaptations. All grade 4 students had the opportunity to hear some great information, view some live animals, and check out some cool animal skulls.   A big thank you to our awesome PTO for funding this excellent experience!

Students in Mrs. Lowerre's fifth grade classroom brainstormed goals for 2017!  So many wonderful ideas!

Congratulations to the Girls U10 for winning the District 3 Championship on Wednesday night.  The Girls U10 team will join the Pee Wee A team in representing Medfield Youth Hockey in the Massachusetts State Tournament.  Best of luck!

Patriots Spirit Day!

Dale Street School will have a Patriots Spirit Day on Friday, January 13th to support the local team as they move into the playoffs.  Staff and students are encouraged to come to school in their Patriots attire or attire that supports their favorite football team.
As always, participation in spirit days is voluntary.

Students in Ms. Bertschmann's class took time to present their awesome explorer research projects!  Take a look...

On a visit to Mrs. Delaney's art room this week, students in Mrs. Flynn's fourth grade class were working collaboratively to create incredible murals.  Great job, girls and boys!

As a reminder, we use 20 degrees as our cut off mark for outside recess.  We look at the actual temperature as well as the "feels like" temperature with the wind chill.  As long as the temperature is above 20 degrees with the windchill, the kids will have outside recess barring any icy conditions that would make the playgrounds unsafe.  Please keep this in mind when sending your child to school and be sure to send the proper clothing.  Thank you in advance!

January 10 - PIN Adolescent Changes Presentation for Grade 5 Parents
January 16 - No School - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 19 - Dale Street Site Council Meeting (3:15 Dale Street LMC)
January 19 - Dale Street Orchestra Concert (7 p.m. HS)

Thank you for reading and best wishes for a terrific 2017!

Have a fabulous weekend,
Steve
