January 20, 2017 - Week 20

Greetings Dale Street Families,

It was another busy week here at #beproudbedale despite only having 4 days.  Please take a minute to scroll through to view the awesome activities that took place this week.

Congratulations to Mrs. Evans, Mr. Ruggiero, Mrs. Stover and our 4th and 5th grade Orchestras for an amazing concert last night. Dale Street students performed spectacularly!
Bravo to our fantastic musicians!

Students in Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class have been working hard during writer's workshop composing and finalizing their persuasive essays.

Thanks once again to the MCPE and PTO for supporting Dale Street. Mrs. Vancura's grant for Noise Reducing Headphones (see below) was generously approved by the MCPE.  Additionally, Wheelock Principal, Mrs. Olson and I wrote an MCPE grant to host Urban Improv, a Boston theater group, who will perform for our students. The performances are interactive and some of our students will participate.

The Dale Street PTO recently approved our request for funds to purchase some updated book titles for our newly remodeled Library Media Center and funds to replenish some makerspace materials.  #VeryGrateful

So happy for Will in Mr. Mason's class as he received a return letter and autographed picture from Patriots Head Coach, Bill Belichick!

Join us for an elementary parent discussion of the book The Price of Privilege, by Madeline Levine, Ph.D. This New York Times bestseller addresses the importance of fostering resilience in our children and how parents’ best intentions can go awry. Click here for details.

Students in Ms. Burnham's fifth grade class spent time this week using Nearpod to research climate change.

Thank you to Nora in Mr. Douglas' fourth grade class for reading today's book recommendation.  Nora recommended Petey by Ben Mikaelsen because it is very heartwarming and will make you never want to drop the book.  Thanks Nora!

Please click here for the PTO update.

Ms. Walunas' fifth grade students visited Dale Street's makerspace this week to persevere, create and have fun!

Have a wonderful weekend and as always, thanks for reading.  Go PATS!

Sincerely,

Steve
