January 29, 2016 - Week 21

Hello Dale Street Families,

We had our Final Competition for the 2015-2016 Geo Bee this morning.  All eighteen contestants did a remarkable job!  Congratulations to all of you for making the final round.

Congratulations to Jack from Ms. Condon's class for winning this year's Geo Bee. Jack will now take an online exam with a chance to join the state competition, eventually the national competition and a chance to win a $50,000 college scholarship and a trip sponsored by National Geographic!

Students in Mr. Mason's fifth grade classroom used a variety of iPad apps to complete work on their social studies presentations this week.

Working and learning together!

The Dale Street School has decided to dedicate its second Spirit Day to collecting donations to support the Medfield Animal Shelter. Our school is doing this as way to connect to our community. We will be collecting items to donate to the shelter beginning Monday, February 8th through Friday, February 12th. The Medfield Animal Shelter rescues lost or abandoned animals and provides shelter until they find new homes. They depend on donations of food, cleaning supplies and cat litter.  For more information, refer to medfieldshelter.com.  Thank you in advance for your continued support.
To raise awareness for the Medfield Animal Shelter drive, Friday, February 12, will be a school-wide Spirit Day.  The theme will be 'Twin Day.'   Staff and students are invited to participate.

Do you have unused gift cards floating around in your junk drawer? The Teacher Digital Learning Day on Feb 5th could use them! They will be used as prizes for a free teacher raffle at the end of this professional day. All gift cards welcome (iTunes, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Park St. Books, etc.) Deliver them by February 1st by to Minta Hissong @ 30 Vine Brook Rd. or email her at minta@verizon.net and she will come pick them up.  Thank you for your generosity.

Special thanks to Ms. Bertschmann's class for sharing their persuasive "Chocolate Milk" essays.  These students did a remarkable job with thesis statements, citing evidence, and using concluding statements.  Great work!

Congratulations to the our wonderful members of the Medfield Lightning who captured the U11 title last Friday.  We are so proud of these Dale Street students!
