March 8, 2024 - Week 27

Hello Dale Street Community!

What a fantastic week here at #beproudbedale!  This week's blog is jam-packed and full of awesomeness and contains helpful information and dates for our students and families.  Take a peek...

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

This week, Dale Street celebrated Reading Across America week. The spirit days were very popular and having guest readers visiting Dale Street and reading to our students was awesome! Special thanks to Mrs. Lowerre and Mrs. Knott for setting up a great week!

Elementary Principal Webinar
On March 27th at 4 PM, the Elementary Principals will be offering an information webinar (link to follow) to families regarding the student placement process for the 2024-2025 school year. This webinar will be the 3rd in our Student Support Series and will explain the student placement process including specifics on the parental input letter. Please note that the webinar will be recorded and shared for those individuals who cannot attend or who wish to review the contents. If you have a specific question you would like addressed, or if there is a particular placement topic you would like discussed, please complete this form by Sunday, March 24th.

Positive Sign Thursday!

'WE ARE READERS!'

Early Release - Staff Professional Development

Please note that next Tuesday, March 12th is an early release day. Our staff will be involved in math and literacy professional development.

Dale Street students LOVE our new MCPE-funded classroom cruisers 🚲. Pedaling across America, students are integrating math & social studies, aiming to travel 2,983 miles from Boston to LA! Thank you, MCPE!

Congratulations to Dale Street's Artist of the Month, Lucas from Mrs. Skinner's and Mrs. Kaplan's class.

I am writing to inform you of some exciting news regarding Dale Street Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Maloney's upcoming maternity leave. As many of you may already know, Mrs. Maloney is expecting her first child and her due date is fast approaching. We couldn't be more thrilled for her and her growing family, and we want to extend our warmest wishes to her during this special time. While we will miss Mrs. Maloney during this special time, I am delighted to introduce you to Caryn Haskins, who will be stepping in to support our students and families during Mrs. Maloney's maternity leave.

Ms. Haskins comes to us with experience in the field of counseling and has been working alongside Mrs. Maloney over the past few weeks to familiarize herself with Dale Street, our students, and our daily routines. Her dedication and commitment to the well-being of our school community are truly commendable, and I am confident that she will seamlessly continue the outstanding level of care and support that Mrs. Maloney has always provided.

During her time with us, Ms. Haskins will be available to assist students with their social-emotional needs, provide guidance on academic and personal matters, and collaborate with teachers and families to ensure the success and happiness of every child at Dale Street.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Haskins to our Dale Street family. Should you have any questions or concerns during Mrs. Maloney's absence, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Haskins (chaskins@email.medfield.net - will be active once she begins) or myself. We are here to support you every step of the way.

On Sunday, 4 Dale Street Teams (listed below) will be competing in the Destination Imagination Tournament in Beverly.  Each team and its participants have put in countless hours and effort. Please join me in wishing these Dale Street Rockstars the very best of luck.  The event is open to the public - visitors are encouraged to attend.

The Round of 32 of our March Madness Tournament begins next week. Preliminary Round scores will be posted in the cafeteria on Monday at lunch. Students and staff who made it to the Round of 32 will need to shoot 10 free throws during one of the following days (it doesn't matter the grade): Tuesday, 3/12 or Friday, 3/15, between 7:50 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.  Please note that all team members do not have to come on the same day, but all participants must shoot their free throws by Friday, 3/15.

Register today for the 2024 MCPE Spelling Bee!
Registration closes Tuesday, March 12.

Sponsored by Medfield Orthodontics

DATE: Monday, March 18th, 2024
TIMES: 4-7:30pm (Dale teams go first; Wheelock teams arrive by 5)
LOCATION: Medfield H.S. Auditorium
COST: $20 per student
Concessions will be available for purchase

All event proceeds go to benefit Medfield Public Schools!

The MCPE Spelling Bee for Wheelock and Dale students is a low-stress team approach to a spelling bee. When the moderator reads a word, team members practice T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K to confer and write the correct spelling on a piece of paper. There is no spelling out loud in front of the crowd!

There are several rounds for each age group, and winning teams will be crowned for grades 2-3 and grades 4-5. Kids can sign up as a team of 2-4 students or as a solo speller. And of course, costumes are encouraged!

This week, Grade 4 students began their Greek Mythology book groups.  Students love this unit! Special thanks to our awesome PTO for funding these book sets!
