December 1, 2023 - Week 14

Hello Dale Street Community,

I hope that you all had a fantastic and fulfilling Thanksgiving holiday surrounded by loved ones and delicious food. It was a great week back at #beproudbedale. Please take a few moments to check out this week's blog. It's a fantastic way to stay connected and informed.

¡Tira los dados! 🎲 On Tuesday in World Language with Senora LeVangie, 4th graders asked and answered many questions about the school subjects they rolled. ¿Te gusta? ¿Qué haces? ¿Qué necesitas?

Thank you to Tess and Abby in Mrs. Chamblin's fifth-grade class for sharing this week's book talk.  Great job!

Positive Sign Thursday!

'OUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT!'

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!

MassDOT hosts an annual contest for elementary school students to name a snowplow for the current year. All Dale students are welcome to participate!

Attention - All Dale Street Families! The Dale Street Student Council and the Dale Street PTO are having a collection of new PJ's and socks for Cradles to Crayons for the cold winter months.  The collection has been active since November 13th and will run until Friday, December 15th. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause.  Thank you!

Mrs. Knott has introduced this great activity for students. Ask your child if they have seen this board outside the main office or solved any of the challenges.

This week in Art class with Mrs. Delaney, Grade 5 students displayed creativity and talent while drawing figures and portraits. Future artists in the making!

Term 1 report cards for students will be available to
families via the Aspen portal on Friday, December 8th after 3 PM.

Congratulations to Dale Street's Artist of the Month for December!
Abbie (Ms. DiPesa 4th grade)

🎉Giving Tuesday is this week! 🎉 Coming on the heels of Thanksgiving and its spirit of gratitude and giving, Giving Tuesday is a day to come together and give back to our communities through charitable giving. No matter what day it is this week, we hope you will consider making a special donation to support MCPE and our mission to enrich Medfield Public Schools. Gifts of all sizes will help MCPE fund grants for special projects at every school in Medfield. Your generosity truly makes a difference in our town and for our kids! Tax-deductible donations can be made through the MCPE Venmo account - @mcpe_medfield. Thank you for your continued support!

This week Grade 5 students showcased homes built in this historical era.  I am so proud of their amazing collaboration, problem-solving, engineering skills, creative use of materials, and learning!

Professional Development Day - Early Release

On Tuesday, December 12th, Dale Street students will be dismissed early due to staff
professional development scheduled for the afternoon. Teachers and instructional
assistants will be involved in a variety of activities including data analysis and ELA and Illustrative Math activities.

Join us on Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, 2023 for "Spaghetti and Snowballs!"

Get your tickets now as we bring back this favorite holiday tradition! Guests will enjoy a spaghetti dinner (with or without sauce and/or meatballs) and an ice cream dessert, music performed by Medfield students, and photos with Olaf from Frozen. 7th & 8th grade music students will be your servers for the evening and all three elementary school principals will be at the 5:15pm dinner. There will also be a bake sale, gift basket raffles, and many more fun surprises.

Choose between two dinner seatings: one at 5:15 p.m., and another at 6:30p.m. Tickets are $10 each (plus a small processing fee) and only 250 tickets are available for each seating. The first seating is already 60+% sold out and the second seating is close behind! Don't miss your chance to join the fun, see your friends, and support the Medfield music program!

This week, students in Mrs. Gutierrez fourth-grade class learned about archaeology in Mesa Verde. And as luck would have it...a letter from Mesa Verde came that afternoon! Real life connections!
