June 2, 2023 - Week 36

Hello Dale Street Families,

It was so great to be back at Dale Street this week.  I took it slow, but seeing your amazing children and the fantastic #beproudbedale staff was so great and meant the world to me!  Thank you again for all of your well wishes, care, and generosity.  I have been completely overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and feel so blessed to be part of the Dale Street/Medfield community.  Thank you for taking a minute to check in this week.  It was another awesome week.  Take a look...

(Will be updated with new information when necessary)

We celebrated a Positive Referral breakfast this morning. Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments. Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral this year!

Grade 5 had an amazing field trip this week to the Boston Duck Tour! The beautiful weather made it even more enjoyable as the students explored the city's landmarks on land and water. We want to extend a special thank you to our dedicated chaperones. It was a memorable experience that left the students with big smiles and new knowledge.

David Biedrzycki Enchants Dale Street with Creativity

Renowned author and illustrator (and Medfield's own) David Biedrzycki visited Dale Street on Thursday and Friday this week. The event, funded by our very generous PTO, featured Mr. Biedrzycki sharing his ideas and how books go from ideas to print.  Students were inspired by his storytelling and creativity.  His visit was a resounding success.  Special thanks to the Medfield Public School librarians for arranging this visit.

Our AMAZING PTO is providing students with a special treat on Monday afternoon.  Kona Shaved Ice will be served as a fun treat for a great year!  The Kona Ice truck will come to Dale on Monday, June 5th.  This is a link to the Allergen Certification page for the products being served. Although they do not contain any of the common allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, wheat, etc.) the products are present in the same manufacturing plant, but not manufactured on the same line as common allergens.  They will be serving the Klassic Kona Ice.  Please take the time to look at the allergy information and let me know if your child can NOT have any of these products.

This week the Grade 4 and Grade 5 bands held their final ensemble.  It is amazing how much they have grown this year!  I am so proud of them and can't wait to hear them perform next week at their concerts.

Transition Day for current Grade 4 & Grade 5 students will be held on Wednesday, June 14th. Grade 5 students will ride the bus over to Blake Middle School in the morning where they meet their cluster teachers and learn a little more about next year before returning to Dale Street for the remainder of the school day.  Grade 4 students will visit their new fifth grade teacher and classmates and learn a little about why Grade 5 is so great before returning to their Grade 4 classrooms for the remainder of their day. Welcome emails from your child’s new teacher and a Flip Grid video invitation will be shared with families on Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, the Medfield High School Class of 2023 participated in a Senior Walk around Dale Street.  It was so great to have #beproudbedale alumni walking the halls.  On behalf of the students and staff at Dale Street, best of luck in all of your future endeavors.

This week in World Language with Señora LeVangie, Grade 4 students  did a wonderful job acting out their comprehensible story, “La Casa Perfecta.”

Dale Street Field Day is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6th (Rain Day, Wednesday, June 7th).  Mrs. Nawrocki and Mrs. Laughna are planning an exciting day of activities for our 4th and 5th graders.  Grade 4 will participate in Field Day during the morning (9:00 - 11:15) and Grade 5 will participate in the afternoon (12:00 - 2:15). Field Day will take place on the field between the Dale Street and Memorial Schools.  Classes will have the opportunity to rotate through nine stations. Classes will rotate with their classroom. All activities will take place on the field and on the blacktop.

We have found it to be helpful to

**have students wear comfortable clothes and sneakers on this day

**apply sunscreen before coming to school.  Please provide more sunscreen for re-application.

**send children with a hat and extra water on this day.

Classes will be eating bagged lunches. Students may bring their own bagged lunch or purchase a bagged lunch from the cafeteria. Note: There will be no other lunch options on this day.

This week students in Señora Spittel's 5th grade World Language class presented their stories based on the Eric Hill book "Where is Spot?" where they created their own Spanish slideshow presentations with one character searching for another in various locations.

Please save the date of Tuesday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m. for Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration.  This year, the Grade 5 Celebration will take place on the basketball court outdoors and we are hoping for dry and nice weather.  Grade 5 families are welcome and we are asking that all guests bring a lawn chair for seating in an area off the pavement.  If there is inclement weather on this day, the celebration will be held in the gymnasium.  If this is the case, we will only be able to welcome 2 guests per family for the celebration.

Celebration Invitation

PAY IT FORWARD

The Class of 2023 Graduation is this Saturday June 3rd and for the last 30 years, Medfield has continued the wonderful tradition of organizing the All Night Grad Party (ANGP) to allow the Seniors to celebrate one last time together.  We rely totally on volunteers to help create a SAFE and fun environment through the night. This year we’re struggling to get volunteers to help with the Casino from 1.45 am - 5 am.  It’s a tough ask, however for the first time, Graduation is on a Saturday allowing volunteers to catch up with sleep all day Sunday!

Please pay it forward by volunteering to be a croupier at the games tables. (Simple, easy instructions will be provided!) We don’t want to have to close this area down early due to not having the volunteers as it’s a popular area of the party.

SIGN UP HERE and scroll down to the 1.45am - 5am time.

OPEN HOUSE

Additionally, the whole town is invited to come and view the amazing decorations that transform the high school into the party of all parties.  Please come and walk through this Saturday from 11am - 12pm, (enter field-side where it says ‘Gym Entrance’, and your kids will love it (so will you!).  It won’t be long until your kids can experience what has been described as ‘the most fun school event from all the years in Medfield’.  Let's keep this Medfield Tradition alive.  SEE YOU THERE!  THANK YOU.
