May 5, 2023 - Week 32

 Dear Dale Street Families,

I hope that you all had a fabulous week! For us, it is true what they say - time flies when you are having fun! Today we celebrated 'Flower Power Day.'  On this day, students created flower bouquets and distributed them to members of the Dale Street community (cafeteria workers, bus drivers).  It was so awesome to celebrate random acts of kindness.  Special thanks to all the families who donated flowers!

Our last Kids Night Out events are coming in the next few weeks! Please see the links below to sign your child up for the 4th Grade Night (May 19th) or the 5th Grade Night (May 12th). We also need a lot of volunteers so we'd appreciate any help you could give! (The sign-up genius link for volunteers is located on the permission slip.)

On Tuesday, students in Mrs. Guiterrez's fourth-grade class participated in a SEED Science lesson with Dr. Bless and Dr. Pearl.  On this day students hypothesized where hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and ducks live based on what they can feed on.  This awesome hands-on activity for all of our fourth-grade classrooms is funded by a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant.

On Wednesday, Simon arrived at school in style.  Simon was part of this very cool PTO auction item.  Special thanks to Officer Manganello and the Medfield Police Department who are always there to support Dale Street.

Positive Sign Thursday!

'WE ARE A-MAY-ZING!'

Dale Street is excited to host Medfield author and illustrator, David Biedrzycki on Thursday, June 1st and Friday, June 2nd!  Any families wishing to purchase or personalize books from David Biedrzycki before his visit to Dale Street can send in this book order form by Tuesday, May 23rd.  Checks (made out to David Biedrzycki) are the preferred method of payment.  Please reach out to Library Media Specialist, Julie Lowerre (jlowerre@email.medfield.net) with any questions! Thank you!

Please save the date of Tuesday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m. for Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration.  This year, the Grade 5 Celebration will take place on the basketball court outdoors and we are hoping for dry and nice weather.  Grade 5 families are welcome and we are asking that all guests bring a lawn chair for seating in an area off the pavement.  If there is inclement weather on this day, the celebration will be held in the gymnasium.  If this is the case, we will only be able to welcome 2 guests per family for the celebration.

πŸŽ‰ Do you know a Medfield teacher or staff member who has made a positive impact in a student's life? 🌟 MCPE's Blue Ribbon Recognition Program is the perfect way to honor their efforts and show your appreciation! πŸ’™ By making a donation to MCPE in their name, you can recognize their hard work and dedication to our students.

πŸ‘ And what better time to participate in the program than during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week? πŸ™Œ This is a thoughtful and easy way to recognize the important role these individuals play in shaping our children's future.

Let's show our gratitude and make a difference in our school community by participating in the Blue Ribbon Recognition Program today!  Submit your Blue Ribbon Recognition here: https://www.medfieldcoalition.org/blue-ribbon-recognition-2023

This week in Makerspace with Mrs. Lowerre, Grade 4 students collaboratively worked on their Mythology book projects. It is so great to see such enthusiasm and engagement from these rockstars!

The end of the school year can be very busy with a lot of fun and exciting events.  We have created this calendar that will hopefully help families keep track of all the wonderful things happening at #beproudbedale over the final 6 weeks of school.
