November 15, 2019- Week 12

Dear Dale Street Families,

This week, Grade 4 classes had a fantastic time being geologists.  Special thanks to our amazingly supportive PTO for funding the Discovery Museum visits this week!

Thank you to Jean Paul for doing our book review this week.  Jean Paul read This Book of Mine by Sarah Stewart.  This book inspired him because, 'There's the title I didn't love, but when I read it, it was so good.  It also inspired me because they are telling the truth to their grandma.'  Thanks, Jean Paul!

In Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade class this week, students played the role of teacher.  Students worked in groups to present review material to their fellow classmates.  The students were so creative and took pride in being great teachers!

Congratulations to Grade 4 teacher, Mrs. Scott and her family on the arrival of their second child, Griffin Michael!

Check out the PTO update with information about volunteer opportunities, fundraisers and more.

In the Makerspace with Mrs. Lowerre this week, Grade 5 students brainstormed a variety of creative ways to design and build sturdy, stable structures.  Very cool!

Students have the opportunity to sign up to be a Dale Street Chromebook Captain.  Students learned about this school job yesterday during their lunchtime.  Interested students should complete this application and hand it in to the office by Friday, November 22, 2019.

Ms. Sager's fifth grade students did some great, collaborative planning getting ready to film Episode 2 of their Global Giving video. Pennies for a Purpose Final Tally Grade 5 pulled off a win by the narrowest of margins in our game's history! A mere 467 points separated Grade 4 and Grade 5. 467 points is the equivalent of $4.67! Sincere gratitude goes to all those that contributed. In total, our Pennies for a Purpose/Silver Sabotage game brought in $1,344.25 for our friends in Zimbabwe.

November 20-22: Wire Craft Sale

We will be selling handmade Zimbabwean Wire Crafts during lunches this week. Cost of items will range from $3-$20.
Several wire crafts will be raffled.  Raffle tickets cost $1.00 each.
There will also be some buttons and bracelets on sale for a low price.

The Dale Street Student Council is currently collecting mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to keep homeless adults warm this winter. There are collection bins at Dale Street until November 22nd to collect donated items.

Our next Spirit Day will be on Friday, November 22nd with the theme.....COMFY DAY!!

This week Ms. Warner visited our fourth graders to share a Sanford Harmony social emotional learning lesson. Students had the opportunity to explore stereotypes and the feelings/emotions attached to them.

Please check the Lost & Found for any lost items.
All unclaimed items will be donated on Dec 20th.

Check it out....Tom Brady and the NE Patriots wrote back to a couple of Mrs. Nee's fifth graders!  Their letters complimented our students' writing skills.
