February 15, 2019 - Week 24

Hello Dale Street!

On Wednesday, grade four students participated in a super fun rock investigation presented by the Museum of Science! Special thanks to the PTO for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students and staff!

It was all about design thinking in Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade classroom on Thursday.  Students chose between a variety of activities to show their understanding of the water cycle. What a fun and individualized way to learn!

Check out these awesome #beproudbedale students.  They used virtual coding to "deliver" their Valentines.

Congratulations to our Positive Referrals!  These students were "caught" modeling our Core Values.  We are so proud of you!

Students in Mrs. Dowd's fourth grade classroom had fun this week with PE teacher, Ms. Laughna practicing their volleyball skills.

The next Principal's Coffee will be held on Friday, March 8th, at 8:45 a.m. in the Dale Street School cafeteria.  We will be sharing information on the placement process for the 2019-2020 school year.  Please RSVP if you are planning to attend.  Please note that if you are stuck for child care, please feel free to bring your little ones. We will be providing refreshments for this presentation.

This week, Mrs. LeVangie's fifth grade World Language class had great conversations about what they like to eat and drink - ¿QuĂ© te gusta beber/comer?

Thanks to Maren in Mrs. Foley's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Maren recommended Smart Cookie by Elly Swartz for "someone who loves realistic fiction."  Maren rated this book 5 out of 5 stars!  Thanks Maren!

Check out the PTO Update with information about the Winter Carnival, 5th Grade Talent Show, Kids' Night Out and more!

Our next Elementary Guidance Coffee is scheduled for March 1 from 8:30am-9:30am in the Dale Street LMC.  The coffee is focused on supporting students in youth sports and we will have 3 coaches/guidance counselors as guest speakers.  Please RSVP if you are able to attend.

Congratulations to our Math Challenge Winners - Jordan, Braeden, and John.  (Missing from this picture - Mason) Special thanks to Math Specialist, Mrs. Wells for running this great program!

When we are too focused on grades and performance, we deny our children the time and energy they need to tackle the demanding work of growing up. In this interactive video presentation with Challenge Success Co-Founder Denise Pope, you’ll learn how you can establish a healthier home environment for your school-aged child, reduce academic stress without sacrificing achievement, and increase your child’s resilience, creativity, and well-being. After viewing the video, we’ll break into small groups for age-specific discussions.

Round 1 of our March Madness Tournament will be held the week of March 4th. Students who signed up to be part of a team need to shoot 10 free throws during one of the following days between 7:50am - 8:20am. Please note that all team members do not have to come the same day, but all need to shoot the free throws by 3/8.

Monday, 3/4 Wednesday, 3/6 Friday, 3/8

Thanks to our Friday DJ's for playing some great music during our lunches!

Friday, March 1 - 5th Grade Talent Show, 6:30 p.m. in the Dale St School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased during lunch the week of Feb 25 or at the door the night of the event.

We hope that you enjoy some time with your family and friends during February break. There will be no school for students on Monday, February 18th through Friday, February 22nd. Students will return to school on Monday, February 25, 2019. Have an awesome vacation!
