January 4, 2019 - Week 18

Happy New Year Dale Street!

We hope that you all had a wonderful winter break and it was filled with joy and happiness.  It was great to see everyone back at school on Wednesday.  Although a short week, there was plenty of awesomeness here at #beproudbedale!  Take a look.....

This week in World Language, students in Señora DellaMonica's and Señora LeVangie's classes created family trees and moved throughout the classroom to practice content vocabulary.

Thanks to Emma in Mrs. Flynn's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Emma recommended Thank You Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco, for "someone who loves books that are based on a true story."  Emma rated this book '4 1/2 stars!'  Thanks Emma!

Students in Ms. Sager's fifth grade class took time today to head outside with walking classrooms to learn more about astronaut and aerospace engineer, Neil Armstrong.

SEPAC has a number of events coming up this month! Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 15th at 7pm in the Blake Library. On Wednesday, January 16th, please join us for a post-holiday social with Millis SEPAC at Our Place Today, 38C Park Street, from 6:30-8:30pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet other parents and guardians. And on Tuesday, January 22nd, join us at 7pm in the Medfield High School Library to learn about Tapping, a stress-relieving technique, with Holli Bassin. To learn more about SEPAC and these events, please visit  our website: https://sites.google.com/mail.medfield.k12.ma.us/sepac/

Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class and Mrs. Foley's fifth grade class jumped right back into learning this week.  On Thursday, Mrs. Scott's students explored magnetism during science and Mrs. Foley's students explored "What is air?"  #handsonscience

Patriots Spirit Day!

Dale Street School will have a Patriots Spirit Day on Friday, January 11th to support the local team as they move into the playoffs.  Staff and students are encouraged to come to school in their Patriots attire or attire that supports their favorite football team.

As always, participation in spirit days is voluntary.

There was a lot of great conversation in Mrs. Lowerre's fifth grade classroom this morning.  Students were creating their own Mystery Doug on questions regarding the Solar System.  Very talented!

It has been pretty cold the past few weeks.  As a reminder, we use 20 degrees as our cut off mark for outside recess.  We look at the actual temperature as well as the "feels like" temperature with the wind chill.  As long as the temperature is above 20 degrees with the windchill, the kids will have outside recess barring any icy conditions that would make the playgrounds unsafe.  Please keep this in mind when sending your child to school and be sure to send the proper clothing.  Thank you in advance!

Students in Mrs. Flynn's fourth grade class went on a gallery walk to collaborate about different problem-solving stories.  #dalecorevalues

Thank you for reading and best wishes for a phenomenal 2019!

Have a fabulous weekend,
Steve
