December 14, 2018 - Week 16

Hello Dale Street Community!

On behalf of the Dale Street staff, I would like to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to meet with our teachers over the past two weeks.  We strongly believe in the importance of the home/school connection and recognize that a strong working partnership results in the greatest success for our students. Thank you for all of your continued support!

Dale Street had a school-wide assembly this morning highlighting our school's Core Values.  Special thanks to the students in Ms. Isaacson's class for creating and leading the assembly.  They did an outstanding job! Please check out the video shown at the assembly.

Ms. Bertschmann's grade 5 classroom spent time this week creating a holiday/winter themed poetry book.  Google slides and #collaboration = a lot of laughs and many compliments!

Thanks to Ryan in Mrs. Ross' class for reading today's book recommendation.  Ryan recommended Big Nate Goes for Broke by Lincoln Peirce  for "someone who enjoys comedy"  Ryan rated this book '5 1/2 stars'  Thanks Ryan!

This week, students in Mr. Douglas' fourth grade classroom participated in math workshop.  Students moved throughout centers to gain a deeper understanding of long division.

Check out the artwork created by our Dale Street students under the direction of Mrs. Delaney.  It is fabulous and brightens up our already beautiful cafeteria!

Has your child lost something?  It may be in the Dale Street Lost & Found!  The Lost & Found has been temporarily moved to the office lobby for easy access.  Please have your child look (or feel free to come in yourself) to see if any of the many, many items belong to your child.  All unclaimed items will be donated to charity on 12/21.
Check it out...Mrs. Ross' fourth grade class is piloting chromebook tablets for Google for Education.  Recent uses include how to best represent division, learning more about immigration, and differentiation in typing to record students' thoughts.  So neat!

The Federation for Children with Special Needs will present "Understanding Basic Rights in Special Education" on December 18th at 7pm in the Blake Library. In this presentation families will learn about their rights under special education law, special education procedures, and other information so they can better participate in the team process and support their student. To learn more about Medfield SEPAC, please visit  our website: https://sites.google.com/mail.medfield.k12.ma.us/sepac/

Thank you to the Patriots for answering Brady's letter.  So cool!

Thank you to all of the students and staff who participated in this week's Hat Day to benefit the Medfield Home Committee.  This day raised over $105!!!

Thank you to all of the Dale Street students and their families for creating holiday cards for the residents of the Thomas Upham House, the patients at Children's Hospital and members of our military.  What an extraordinary display of #compassion!

Winter is here!  Please make sure your children come to school dressed appropriately for the cold weather.  Students will have recess OUTSIDE if the 'feels like' temperature is 20 or above.  Hats, gloves and coats are strongly encouraged.

Only those children wearing a coat, snow pants & boots
may go out onto the field to play in the snow. Without these items, children may go out, but must stay on the hardtop. Thank you for your support!
