November 9, 2018 - Week 11

Greetings Dale Street Community,

Last Friday our 5th graders had a wonderful time at the Kids' Night Out!  The night was filled with fun games and great music.  Special thanks to our awesome PTO and all the parent volunteers who helped make this night a great success.  Take a look....

Mrs. Foley's and Ms. Condon's fifth grade classes developed their own food trucks to create a fun way to learn more about decimals.  Very cool!

On Thursday, Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade students participated in math workshop and learned more about finding factors.

Mrs. Strekalovsky and Ms. Warner continued visiting classrooms this week highlighting social thinking.  This grade 5 lesson focused on students solving "people problems" collaboratively.

When Should Your Child Stay Home From School?

The elementary family literacy night is scheduled for next Thursday, November 15.  This year, the planning committee would like to add a 'Pop-Up Little Free Library' to the event line up.  To make this event successful for students in all grades Pre-K-5, we're asking parents for gently-used book donations.  Do you have books on your bookshelves that your children have grown out of? If yes, please consider sending in book donations during the week of November 12.  There will be a collection box in the main office at all elementary schools (and Blake).  You can drop them off in person, or send them to school with your child.

Mrs. Flynn's fourth grade students kicked off their immigration unit with a ScholasticTeach interactive tour of Ellis Island.  So cool!

Both days are half days for the students with dismissal at 11:40 a.m. Please note that Term I report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, December 4th.

A Message from Medfield Youth Outreach

Having a tough time making ends meet? Are basic resources such as obtaining food and covering the cost of utilities becoming more daunting? Medfield Youth Outreach, a confidential town service, may be able to help. Learn about food and utility resources as well as holiday and birthday programs that help ease the stress during difficult financial times.  Reach out at 508-359-7121 to Dawn, Chelsea or the MYO intern Sarah to learn more about what help is available. This office also provides other services which you can learn about here.

Dale Street staff had a blast today participating in Flannel Friday.

On Wednesday, music teacher, Ms. Oxholm took members of the the Dale Street Chorus to the Thomas Upham House to spread musical cheer to the residents.  The Chorus sounded amazing as they sang a series of songs celebrating our country and honoring our veterans.  Bravo, boys and girls!  Special thanks to the parent volunteers who helped chaperone the trip.

Ms. Hayes' fourth grade class decorated Dale Street with these awesome and well-deserved lawn signs!
Thank you to all of our veterans!

Thank you for checking out the blog and best wishes for a wonderful long weekend!

Take care,

Steve
