November 9, 2017 - Week 11

Greetings Dale Street Community,

Last Friday our 4th graders had a wonderful time at the Kids' Night Out!  The night was filled with fun games and great music.  Special thanks to our awesome PTO and all the parent volunteers who helped make this night a great success.  Take a look....

Positive Referral!!!
These students received a Positive Referral this week for their efforts to be inclusive and responsible.  #WeAreProudofYou!

The Dale Street student body continued its Global Giving initiative this week with the Pennies for a Purpose/Silver Sabotage contest.  Thanks to all for your continued generosity. Check out the student-created episode 2 (link below) giving students and their families more information about Global Giving and the Coalition for Courage.

We are currently at the half-way point towards our fundraising goal of $75,000.  Thank you, Medfield, for your generosity!  We are loving seeing all of the blue bows popping up around town in recognition of gifts of all sizes.  It's not too late to make your tax-deductible contribution to the MCPE.  Please visit our website www.medfieldcoalition.org to donate today!

We also want to congratulate our winning trivia teams #Pepoonan and The Trophy Husbands.  As always, this event was a ton of fun and raised valuable funds for the MCPE!
This is a note that we received this week from the Fehl-Price Elementary School in Beaumont, Texas.

Good morning,
Thank You!!!! Thank You!!! Thank You!!!!  We did receive the boxes.  I did find the envelope.  I was out for a few days last week! We have not opened all the boxes and distributed them yet but we are very appreciative for the donations and all your efforts.  It is like opening up boxes of hope.  We are able to supply some of the needs of our students. Thanks again!

There was a very nice write up in Wicked Local Medfield.  If you have not had a chance to see it, it can be viewed here.

To help support Dale Street's Global Giving initiative, the Student Advisory Council (with input from their classmates) have decided to have a school-wide Spirit Day on Friday, November 17th.  The theme will be 'Multiples' Day.'   We will have a suggested donation of $1 to participate.  All proceeds will go to the Collation for Courage.  We have had, and will continue to have, discussions that encourage students to include everyone.  Multiples can be any number of students.
Check out the PTO update for this week - 5th Grade Kid's Night Out, Literacy Night, Winter Carnival, Fundraisers and more!
Wondering about how to support your growing reader at home? Looking for suggestions to motivate and engage your child in reading? On the hunt for questions that will deepen your conversations about texts?  Come to the Literacy Night at Wheelock School on Wednesday, Nov 15 from 6-7:30pm.

Great to see students exhibiting two of Dale Street's Core Values: Collaboration & Continuous Growth in Mrs. DellaMonica's World Language class this week!

Rubik's Cubes, ProBots, Dash and Dots, Creativity, Perseverance, Coding, Osmos and so much more = the Dale Street Makerspace!  Pure Awesomeness!!!

Big shout out to Mrs. Foley's fifth grade class for teaching Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade class how to use the program CueThink!  I couldn't be more proud of the collaboration these students (and their teachers) showed!

Parent/teacher conferences continue next week.  On Tuesday, November 14th, we will have an early  dismissal (11:40 AM) for our students.  We look forward to seeing you.

Thank you to all of our veterans!

Thank you for checking out the blog and best wishes for a wonderful long weekend!

Take care,
Steve
