November 3, 2017 - Week 10

Hello Dale Street!

We had a SPOOKTACULAR week here at #beproudbedale!  Enjoy some of the stories and sights from Halloween week.

Dale Street students and staff kicked off Global Giving month this morning with this AMAZING student-created video. This video (shown in each classroom) will hopefully inspire students and families to get involved in our school-wide effort to assist Coalition for Courage. If you would like more information about Dale Street's Global Giving month, please click here
To help support Dale Street's Global Giving initiative, the Student Advisory Council (with input from their classmates) have decided to have a school-wide Spirit Day on Friday, November 17th.  The theme will be 'Multiples' Day.'   We will have a suggested donation of $1 to participate.  All proceeds will go to the Collation for Courage.  We have had, and will continue to have, discussions that encourage students to include everyone.  Multiples can be any number of students.
Thanks to Emma in Mrs. Crable's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Emma recommended the book series 39 Clues for "fantasy fans" because "it has a lot of adventure!"  Emma rated this book 5 stars!  Thanks Emma!

Today in Mrs. Lowerre's fifth grade classroom, students collaborated on a project to create a Mayan slide show using Google Slides.  Awesome conversations!

On Tuesday, Grade 4 classrooms were involved in 'Pumpkin Math'.  Thank you to all the parents who came in to assist in the classrooms.  We were (and always are) happy to have you!

It was a pleasure to meet with parents on Thursday at the first Principal's Coffee of the school year. The topics of discussion were the recently released MCAS data and the upcoming parent/teacher conferences.  Thank you to all who were able to attend and to the food service staff who provided coffee and snacks. If you were not able to attend, the Google Slides from the presentation can be found on the Dale Street website. The next coffee will be held on March 8th. I hope to see you there.

There was plenty of wonderful creativity in Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade class this week as her young learners shared out their Halloween narratives. Incredible imagination!

On Thursday and Friday of this week Dale Street and Wheelock Instructional Assistants participated in a training put on by Playworks.  Under the leadership of a Plaworks employee, staff trained in the morning, participated in all recesses, and took time to debrief at the end of the day.  What a wonderful opportunity for the Dale Street Instructional Assistants and they are looking forward to bringing some of the cool ideas to the Dale Street recesses soon!

Mark your calendars for 5th Grade Kids’ Night which will take place on Friday, November 17th at 7:00 p.m. in Dale’s cafeteria. 5th graders come FIESTA with your classmates! A permission slip and chaperone sign up link can be found in Dale's Thursday Packet.

Check out the PTO update with information on Kids' Night Out, the upcoming PTO meeting, fundraisers and more.

Look who was leaning more about CueThink at Dale Street this week. The students love it when Dr. Marsden visits Dale Street classrooms!

We are almost at 40% of our goal of $75,000.  Thank you to all who have already donated and received your blue ribbon on your mailbox.  If you haven't donated yet, there's plenty of time!  Visit our newly redesigned website at www.medfieldcoalition.org to give back to our schools.

On Wednesday, members of the MCPE visited Dale Street lunches to hand out stickers in celebration of their 30th year.  Happy Birthday from Dale Street!  We are so grateful to work with such caring and generous partners!

Here is a peek in at Dale Street's Makerspace this week.....
