Friday, December 2, 2016 - Week 14

Hello Dale Street!

It's been a great week at Dale Street!  I am not sure about you, but I can't believe it is already December.  Take a look at the awesome things that went on at #beproudbedale this week....

This morning we had a school-wide 'Hour of Code' kickoff assembly.  Mrs. Cowell and a few of our wonderful students and teachers helped excite the crowd.  Please ask your child if they are excited to work with Dash & Dot next week.  For more information about 'Hour of Code' click here.  If you would like to see the PowerPoint used in today's assembly, it will be posted on the Dale Street website.

Congratulations and amazing job to the 4th and 5th grade chorus!  On Tuesday, these students performed at the high school for their families and guests.  Their performance was fantastic! Thank you to Ms. Oxholm for her outstanding leadership with the Dale Street chorus.

As mentioned in this year's Welcome Back letter, a goal at Dale Street this year is to conduct wellness lessons within all of our classrooms. I am excited to report we have begun our school-wide wellness lessons. Ms. Warner (School Guidance Counselor) and Ms. Strekalovsky (School Psychologist) have already visited some of our classrooms.  The focus in Term I has been the attributes of sympathy and empathy.  In the upcoming weeks, Ms. W. & Ms. S. will visit all classrooms in grades 4 and 5.

Thank you to all of the Dale Street community who participated in Crazy Hat Day last Wednesday.  Through everyone's generosity, Dale Street raised $200 for our Global Giving initiative! Thank You!

Students in Mrs. Foley's fifth grade class participated in Math Workshop this week.  Students used mental math to secure a better understanding of division.  Nice work!

Ms. DiPesa's fourth grade class began to publish their Term I narrative stories.  These students are talented writers!

Congratulations to our Wire Craft raffle winners for 2016!  Special thanks to Ms. Sager and her class for organizing this event and all of the Dale Street community who donated to Coalition for Courage.

Positive Referral!!!
These students received Positive Referrals this week for being empathetic, supportive and positive school citizens.  Great work!
