September 23, 2016 - Week 4

Greetings Dale Street Families,

What a great week! It's hard to believe, but almost a month of school is already behind us. This week's blog is filled with school activities and includes some important reminders. Please enjoy.

On a visit to Mrs. Foley's fifth grade classroom today, students were involved in an inquiry based sun tracking activity.  It was great to listen to students' discussions about the size of shadows in comparison to the location of the sun in the sky.  #collaborativescientists

Congratulations to our Positive Referrals this week.  Thank you for making our school such a great place!   We are very proud of you!

We have started something new here at Dale Street this year.  Each Friday a student has an opportunity to read a book recommendation during morning announcements.  Shea, from Ms. Walunas' class, was our first student to share a book recommendation.  He did an awesome job!

In Mrs. LeVangie's World Language class this week, students in Mrs. Scott's fourth grade class participated in a ¿Cómo estás? lesson using collaboration to better understand feelings.

Students in Ms. DiPesa's, and Ms. MacDonald's classes spent time this week building circuits and testing conductors.  Hands on - what a great way to learn!

If you received an email this week informing you that we have not received your sign-off of the Acceptable Use Policy(AUP)/Student Handbook/Emergency Contact Information, please click here to complete the sign-off by Sunday.  Any student who does not have a signed AUP, will not be allowed to use computing devices (computer, iPads, Chromebooks) beginning Monday.

Please be aware that buses will be arriving in the Adam Street loop for dismissal at 2:50 pm.  If you need to dismiss your child early from school, please avoid parking in the front parking loop after 2:40 pm.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Early Release Day - Professional Development
On Friday, September 30th, Dale Street students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m.  The elementary staff (PreK-5) will be involved in professional development centering around student-centered and professional practice goals.

The Elementary World Language Study Committee is seeking your input regarding future plans for World Language instruction in grades K-5. Parent feedback is critical to our process.

If you have already submitted your responses, thank you! If you have not, please take a moment to complete the Medfield Elementary World Language Parent Survey by Thursday, September,29th

Thank you in advance for helping gather important information.

As always, thank you for reading.  Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Steve
