Hello Dale Street Families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful February break from school and maybe even work. We had an awesome first week back at #beproudbedale. Please take a few minutes to scroll through to see some of the highlights and keep updated about important upcoming events and dates.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!
Today, former Dale Street rockstar student (Aiden, brother of Grade 5 student, Addie) current Medfield High School senior returned to #beproudbedale, using his exceptional shot put skills, to help Mrs. Nee's students better understand metric conversions. π πͺπ
A Moment in Music
This week in 5th grade band, students focused on watching the conductor and responding to tempo changes. In this piece, each section is played at an increasingly faster pace, requiring careful listening and concentration to ensure all 95 students stay together. Developing this skill strengthens their musical awareness and ensemble coordination, key aspects of their growth as young musicians.

State-mandated health screening for our 4th-grade students will start next week on Monday, March 3rd. An email was sent out this week to all parents/ guardians with information and an option to opt-out. If you choose to opt your student out of this screening, please follow the link below: OPT-OUT Form- 4th Grade BMI (Height/Weight) If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Dale Street Nursing office. Phone: 508-242-8573 or Email: kgustafson@email.medfield.net.
Dale Street was recently awarded a grant to fund a .8 (4 days a week) math assistant position for the remainder of the school year. This individual will support students in several 4th and 5th-grade classrooms and assist during our WIN (What I Need) blocks. If you or someone you know is interested in discussing this opportunity, please email sgrenham@email.medfield.net. In your email, kindly include the reason for your interest and any relevant experiences that would be beneficial for the role.
As a twist to their learning this week, Grade 4 classes walked up to Starbucks and back to give a real-life look at how far a kilometer is. They walked it, timed it, thought about it, and now can relate to it! π

Mrs. Beaudoin and Mrs. Knott are beyond excited to celebrate reading next week for Read Across America Week. We can not wait to see students bring their excitement by dressing up in their spirit wear! Each day has a theme that ties to our love of reading! See the flyer for the specific spirit days. During the library block, students will have the opportunity to “Ride Across America” on our incredible stationary bikes that were donated by our PTO. Students will take turns adding mileage toward our chosen destinations on the bikes as they read. We are also excited to have Medfield community members come in as guest readers during the week. Finally, Read Across America kicks off our Battle of the Books. Students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite book! Each week of March we will be voting and narrowing down to the winner! The winning book will be celebrated at an all school assembly the first week of April!
