Happy Friday Dale Street Community!
Can you believe we're halfway through October? The learning and smiles continue to make #beproudbedale a remarkable place to be! I've compiled some of this week's highlights for you to enjoy. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!
Over the last few weeks in Makerspace with Mrs. Lowerre, Grade 4 students have been working hard to create their North American maps. They are coming to life as this week Mrs. Dowd's class added mountains to the appropriate locations on their maps. What a fun way to interpret a map using its important parts (a Grade 4 standard).
Thank you to all of the students who completed the first Math Challenge. The second math challenge has been released. It is due October 18th. Students should turn all math challenges into the office. Thank you to everyone who attended last Wednesday's webinar focusing on students' well-being as part of our Supporting Students Series. If you were unable to make it to the live presentation, here is a link to the recording. If you would like to view the slide deck that was used during the presentation, you can find that here. I am excited about what’s to come in our next presentation!
Each month one Dale Street student will be highlighted for their exemplary work ethic in the art studio.
Congratulations to Dale Street's Artist of the Month for October!

Halloween at Dale Street
The Dale Street staff enjoys making Halloween a safe, exciting, and consistent experience for all students. On Tuesday, October 31st, all of our classrooms:
- encourage all students to dress up in their costumes. Please note that students’ faces may not be covered with a mask, hood, or other items. Please do not allow your child to bring fake weapons into school to accompany their costume, and particularly violent themes should be avoided. Additionally, please leave face paint at home.
- will have Halloween-themed activities. Activities will be teacher-directed and run throughout the morning. The classroom teacher will reach out to head room parents if support is needed.
- will have a 'Party in a Bag'. Please have your child decorate (if they wish) or simply print their name on a brown paper bag. Please send in the brown bag on October 31st, filled with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack. Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy! Students' snack times and the Halloween-themed activities will take place at different times in the morning depending on each class' schedule.
We understand and are happy that the children may receive a plethora of treats on Halloween night. Come Wednesday, November 1st, the staff at Dale Street encourages healthy foods for student snack times to help promote optimal learning. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
Did you know that MCPE (Medfield Coalition for Public Education) is a great way to support Medfield Public Schools? For 35 years, MCPE has raised money from the Medfield community to provide system-wide support and academic enrichment for all five schools in town, with particular attention to academic needs that exceed the parameters of the school budget. We do this largely through community-wide events, like the Fall Fest coming up later this month! Just last spring, MCPE awarded more than $21,000 in funding for six exciting grants. Keep an eye out for future events this
year so that you can support projects like these, too!!
Why do some volcanoes explode? Ask our Grade 4 students! This week students in Mrs. Scott's and Mrs. Gutierrez's fourth-grade classes took a deeper dive into Earth and Space Science learning about volcanic eruptions. So cool!
Fall Teacher Conferences
Teacher conferences have been scheduled for Wednesday, November 8th and Thursday, November 9th with each day being an early dismissal for Dale Street students. Fall conferences will be held in person, however, a virtual option through Zoom will be available upon request. Teachers will be reaching out directly to families to schedule a conference time. Here is the letter that was sent out to Dale Street families earlier this week. We are looking forward to meeting with you and value your partnership.
