September 22, 2023 - Week 4

Hello Dale Street Community!

I am thrilled to share that we've had an amazing week filled with collaboration, engaging activities, and fun at #beproudbedale! Our #rockstar students and staff have made the transition into this school year with incredible enthusiasm. Please take a moment to enjoy some highlights from this week and stay informed about some upcoming dates and events.

There is no school on Monday, September 25th
 in observance of Yom Kippur.

It has been great visiting classrooms and watching the implementation of our new math program, Illustrative Math.  On Monday, students in Ms. MacDonnell's fourth-grade class were involved in a number talk to begin their math lesson.  Such great conversations and ideas!

You should have received this email regarding intramurals last week. Intramural sign-ups/registration will begin on Tuesday, September 26th. Classes are slated to start the week of October 2nd.

This week with Mrs. Delaney, Dale Street students sketched some great ideas for our upcoming Core Value murals.  These students are so talented - I can't wait to see the finished work!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

We are very excited to announce that again this year all 4th and 5th-grade students will have the opportunity to complete biweekly math challenges.  Math challenges will be available to print at home from the website linked below.

Students will be free to solve as many problems as they can and will have about a week to turn in their work. We hope that all students and families find these problems to be a challenging and fun activity.

More information, including a calendar of important dates and a link to download and print the challenges and solutions, is available here. Any questions regarding the math challenge program can be directed to Dale Street math specialist, Ms. Perachi.

The first Challenge begins today and is due on 10/4

Scientists at work!! This week students in Mrs. Gutierrez's fourth-grade class made observations discovering how rocks get weathered over time. Exploration=Fun

Red, orange, yellow, green....the 2nd Annual Medfield K-5 Rainbow Run is September 26th @ Wheelock & September 27th @ Dale & Memorial!! All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will run/walk during the school day on a rainbow-filled track. The music will be rocking, the rainbow gear is ready to go and that is just the beginning of the fun!

We are ready - now it is your turn. Head to https://secure.frontstream.com/medfield-k-5-pto-rainbow-run-2023 to register your student for free and learn all about the activities, prizes, and how your support continues to make a difference in our schools.

Check out this important information sheet that was emailed out today and this video that students saw on the Daily Dale this week.

Positive Sign Thursday!

'YOU ARE IMPORTANT!'

This week in the Makerspace with Mrs. Lowerre, Grade 4 students collaborated to design a pool slide that included at least 1 twist & met specific height requirements. #creativity

A new school year is upon us: new classrooms, new teachers, and new opportunities to make a difference. The Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE) is thrilled to begin another year fundraising with this amazing community, and supporting the incredible Medfield Public Schools!

First up, Fall Fest is back! On Friday, October 20 join us at The German Club in Walpole for live music, drinks, and dancing with friends under the night sky. This relaxed, outdoor event is always a big draw and serves as a highlight of the Medfield social calendar – and a great opportunity to fundraise for Medfield Public Schools. Come enjoy this chance to spend a special night out with a group of friends or neighbors, and to reconnect with other parents.

Ticket sales kick off this Saturday, September 23 at 10am online and at the MCPE booth at Medfield Day. Tickets are $50 each; availability is limited and this event typically sells out quickly. Drop by our booth to say hello and get your Fall Fest tickets before they sell out!

Today, students in Mrs. Ross' fifth-grade class worked together learning the many ways to write expressions to represent the volume of composite figures.
