February 3, 2023 - Week 21

Greetings Dale Street Community,

It is hard to believe that we only have two school weeks before February vacation, especially with all the hard work and determination that students and staff continue to display here at #beproudbedale.  I am so proud of each and every one of them!  Please take a minute to see some photos from this week, as well as stay up-to-date with some important school information.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Melina was recognized for demonstrating our Core Value of Respect.

Addie was recognized for modeling our Core Value of Compassion.

Hadley was recognized for exemplifying our Core Value of Compassion.

This week, Ms. Burnham's/Mrs. Kaplin's fifth-grade class participated in a mock trial to learn more about the fallout from the Boston Massacre.  In this scene, Abby, the foreperson passes on the jury's verdict to judges, Camden and Shelby.  Students learned a lot and had a great time!

On Tuesday, students in Ms. Condon’s fifth-grade class facilitated a spectacular student-led SEL assembly highlighting our Core Value of Continuous Growth.  The students were AMAZING!

Grade 4 classes are enjoying learning about our country's westward expansion and the history and life on the Oregon Trail.  The faces tell the story!

Positive Sign Thursday!

'BELIEVE IN YOURSELF LIKE WE BELIEVE IN YOU!'

Students and staff are invited to participate in the Dale Street School March Madness Free Throw Shooting Contest.  The contest begins Tuesday, February 28th. Click here for more information.  Registration deadline is Friday, February 10th.

The Dale Street PTO recently approved a grant to fund Root Coding Robots.  The robots arrived this week and Grade 4 teachers used time this week to expirament with them.  On behalf of the students and teachers, thank you for approving this awesome opporunity!

Valentine's Day is fast approaching....very exciting!  In an effort to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff, we are requesting that no food/candy be sent in with Valentine's cards. On Tuesday, February 14th, students will enjoy a “Party in a Bag!” Have your child decorate a brown paper lunch bag with a Valentine’s theme. Once decorated, fill it with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack.  Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy!  Head Room Parents will be coordinating games/crafts for this day.  The snack time and Valentine's themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules and will be overseen by classroom teachers.

On Wednesday, Grade 4 students in Mrs. Scott's class participated in a great math discussion and hands-on math activity focused on fractions and their comparison to one whole.

MCPE Update - Week of February 6, 2023

Trivia Night is just around the corner!

This favorite Medfield event is a fun way to enjoy a night with friends while supporting our Medfield schools, teachers, and students. All proceeds benefit MCPE, which provides system-wide support and academic enrichment for Medfield Public Schools through grants for the development of innovative programs, curriculum, and enrichment. Check out some MCPE Grants in Action on FB! https://www.facebook.com/MCPEMedfield

Trivia Night is next Wednesday, February 8 at 7:00 PM at AvaLena’s Bar in Millis. Teams of 4-6 adults will join other competitors and a professional trivia host for a fast-paced, humor-filled evening. The cost is $40/person (dinner included, cash bar). Team captains register teams here.

We’re painting the town blue!

MCPE is celebrating its 35th Anniversary! During this anniversary year, we are asking every household in Medfield to consider making a donation to MCPE. Each residence that makes a charitable contribution of any amount will receive a blue bow placed on their mailbox. You can showcase your support for Medfield Public Schools by donating to MCPE's 35th Anniversary Appeal and proudly displaying a blue ribbon, helping us paint the town blue!

This year, we are partnering with our schools to fund five ambitious projects that will make a real difference in our students' educational experience. Without MCPE, many of the educational enrichment tools and professional development opportunities that differentiate Medfield Public Schools and make our students' academic experiences truly unique would simply not be possible, as they are outside the school budget. Over many years, MCPE has brought innovative and rewarding initiatives to students in all five public schools. From Numicon kits and Passport Club in our elementary schools to a disc golf course and pickleball at the middle and high schools, every single child that comes through the Medfield public school system benefits from grants funded by MCPE.

Please join us by making your MCPE 35th Anniversary Appeal gift today! Let’s paint the town blue!

MHS Clay Club presents Empty Bowls, a collaborative community dinner of soup and bread to raise money for Medfield Food Cupboard. Come make or buy a bowl and join us for a soup dinner Thursday 3/9/23. All proceeds benefit Medfield Food Cupboard!
