February 10, 2023 - Week 22

 Dear Dale Street Families,

Your children continue to do great work on a daily basis and lead by example! Here are a few photographs and highlights from the week as well as some important updates for you.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Bravo to Emma in Mrs. Dowd's fourth-grade class for performing beautifully at Medfield High School this week.  Emma was asked to perform during their Chinese New Year celebration.  We are so proud of you, Emma!

Positive Sign Thursday!

'WE ARE TEAMMATES!'

Valentine's Day is on Tuesday....very exciting!  In an effort to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff, we are requesting that no food/candy be sent in with Valentine's cards. Next Tuesday, February 14th, students will enjoy a “Party in a Bag!” Have your child decorate a brown paper lunch bag with a Valentine’s theme. Once decorated, fill it with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack.  Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy!  Head Room Parents will be coordinating games/crafts for this day.  The snack time and Valentine's themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules and will be overseen by classroom teachers.

This past week was National Counseling Week and at #beproudbedale, we have the best!  Please join me in thanking Mrs. Maloney for the many wonderful things she does to support students, staff, and families!

This week fourth-grade students in Señora Spittel's World Language classes described themselves with three Spanish adjectives and illustrated the meaning of those words above.

Also this week, fifth-grade students in Señora Spittel's World Language classes participated in a Spanish restaurant simulation game where students used menus they created in class to practice ordering food and drinks.

Grade 4 students started up a volleyball unit in PE this week with Mrs. Nawrocki.  This unit is always a favorite of the students.

Thank you to Manu in Ms. Isaacson's fourth-grade class for joining the Daily Dale this week to share a book recommendation.  Great job!

Let’s paint the town blue!

MCPE is celebrating its 35th Anniversary! During this anniversary year, we are asking every household in Medfield to consider making a donation to MCPE. Each residence that makes a charitable contribution of any amount will receive a blue ribbon placed on their mailbox. You can showcase your support for Medfield Public Schools by donating to MCPE's 35th Anniversary Appeal and proudly displaying a blue ribbon, helping us paint the town blue!

This year, MCPE is partnering with our schools to fund five ambitious projects that will make a real difference in our students' educational experience. Without MCPE, many of the educational enrichment tools and professional development opportunities that differentiate Medfield Public Schools and make our students' academic experiences truly unique would simply not be possible, as they are outside the school budget. Over many years, MCPE has brought innovative and rewarding initiatives to students in all five public schools. From Numicon kits and Passport Club in our elementary schools to a disc golf course and pickleball at the middle and high schools, every single child that comes through the Medfield public school system benefits from grants funded by MCPE.

Please join us by making your MCPE 35th Anniversary Appeal gift today and share your blue ribbons on social with #mcpeblue!! Let’s paint the town blue!

On a visit to Mrs. Hayes' fifth-grade class this week, students used flipgrid to create math tutorials.  In this photo, students were explaining how to multiply a whole number by a fraction.  Well done!
