October 28, 2022 - Week 9

Dear Families,

On behalf of the Dale Street staff, I would like to wish a very happy Diwali to all of our families who celebrated this week. We had another great week here at #beproudbedale! Creative thinking, Friday DJs, collaborative work, Positive Sign Thursday, and wonderful music!  Scroll through and take a look at some of the awesomeness from this past week!

As a reminder, Monday, October 31st is an early release day for staff professional development. Dale Street students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. Morning breakfast will not be served on this day. Please remember to update your child's School Dismissal Manager if they will be dismissed to a different location than usual. Thank you!

I am very excited to announce that the playground equipment that we ordered has arrived and has been installed.  The students are so excited to use the slide structure again! We would like to send a HUGE thank you to the Dale Street PTO who generously helped fund this repair project.  We would also like to thank Dr. Marsden, Mr. LaFrancesca, and our building and grounds staff for getting the replaced equipment installed so quickly.

Grade 4 Permission Slip:

Grade 5 Permission Slip:

A heartfelt thanks to our AMAZING PTO for providing these great fall treats on Thursday!

This week, students in Mr. Douglas' fourth-grade class took a deeper dive into identifying and naming multiples.  These mathematicians are very talented!

Congratulations to Ryan, Huzaifa, Nola, and Emma for winning the "Where in the Library is Mr. Grenham?" contest.  Thank you to Mrs. Lowerre and Mrs. Knott for organizing this fun event.

The fourth-grade ensemble played their first song together this week - so proud of this group's effort!

Thanks to our Friday DJ's who kept the lunchroom rockin' today.

Our second math challenge is now available. Students are encouraged to solve as many problems as they can. We hope that all students and families find these problems to be a challenging and fun activity.

More information, including a calendar of important dates and a link to download and print the challenges and solutions, is available here. Any questions regarding the math challenge program can be directed to Dale Street math specialist, Ms. Perachi.

The 3rd Challenge is now available and is due on 11/2

Halloween at Dale Street

The Dale Street staff enjoys making Halloween a safe, exciting, and consistent experience for all students.  On Monday, October 31st, all of our classrooms:

  • encourage all students to dress up in their costumes. Please note that NO weapons are allowed, and students should not wear masks that cover their entire face. Additionally, please leave face paint at home.
  • will have Halloween-themed activities.  Activities will be teacher-directed and run throughout the morning.  The classroom teacher will reach out to head room parents if support is needed.
  • will have a 'Party in a Bag'.  Please have your child decorate (if they wish) or simply print their name on a brown paper bag. Please send in the brown bag on October 31st, filled with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack.  Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy! Students' snack times and the Halloween-themed activities will take place at different times in the morning depending on each class' schedule.
  • There will be no morning breakfast served on Monday, October 31st.

We understand and are happy that the children may receive a plethora of treats on Halloween night. Come Tuesday, November 1st, the staff at Dale Street encourages healthy foods for student snack times to help promote optimal learning.  Thank you in advance for your continued support.
