June 10, 2022 - Week 38

Hello Dale Street Community,

What a fantastic week here at #beproudbedale!  It was an A+ day for Field Day today! It is amazing to think there are only 5 and a half days remaining in the '21-'22 school year.  Time certainly flies when you are having fun!

(Will be updated with new information when necessary)

We celebrated a Positive Referral breakfast on Wednesday. Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments. Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral this year!

Positive Sign Thursday!

'KINDNESS COUNTS!'

Congratulations to our Chorus members on a very successful concert Monday evening. Their hard work all year long certainly paid off!  Special thanks to music teachers, Mrs. Tremblay and Mr. Ruggerio.

We will have our last Pool Testing on Tuesday 6/14, with results reported Wednesday am. The Home Testing program, funded through the state, has ended.

Medications: If your child has medication in the nurse’s office, please stop by and pick it up next week.

We will be serving Kona Shaved Ice as a fun treat for exceeding our Rainbow Run fundraising goals.  The Kona Ice truck will come to Dale on Monday, June 13th.  This is a link to the Allergen Certification page for the products being served. Although they do not contain any of the common allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, wheat, etc.)  the products are present in the same manufacturing plant, but not manufactured on the same line as common allergens.  They will be serving the Klassic Kona Ice.  Please take the time to look at the allergy information and let me know if your child can NOT have any of these products.  We will have Luigi's Lemon Italian Ice on hand as an alternative.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Bedhead Ted author/illustrator, Scott SanGiacomo visited Dale Street and shared wonderful messages about following your dreams and starting with a shape. It was so great to have all students hear these important messages.  Thank you to our fantastic PTO for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students.

We had an awesome Field Day today!  Special thanks to Wellness teachers, Mrs. Nawrocki and Ms. Laughna for organizing a wonderful, fun-filled day for our students.  Also a shout out to Dale Street teachers for supervising the stations.  As I sent out in a tweet, if you like fun, community, and smiling faces, this day was for you.

On Tuesday, the Dale Street 4th & 5th-grade bands performed spectacularly in front of a standing-room-only audience. Special thanks to music teachers, Mr. Dexter and Mrs. Tumbleson.

On Thursday, former Dale Street alumni and current Grade 6 Blake Middle School students visited Dale Street to share valuable insight on students' upcoming transition. Our guests were phenomenal - thanks for sharing important information!

Check out today's Grade 5 Egg Drop! Students played the role of design engineers to create contraptions that would safely hold an egg.  We have very talented students with such creative ideas!

Today, Library Media Specialist, Ms. Sweeney and I facilitated a Summer Reading Assembly with our Grade 4 students to talk about Dale Street's Summer Reading expectations.  Please take a minute to read through this important Letter to Families.

Bravo to the members of the Grade 4 and Grade 5 Orchestra. These students participated in their first concert on Thursday night and performed beautifully! Special thanks to music teachers, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Stover, and Mrs. Sullivan.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!  Thank you for making Dale Street such a great place!

Andrew was recognized for being very supportive and compassionate.

Current Grades K-4 Transition - On Tuesday, June 21st, at or around 1:00 p.m., teachers will be sending out an email welcoming incoming students and their families to their class for the 2022 - 2023 school year.  Along with the introductory email, there will be a link to a Flipgrid of all of their classmates for next year - including their new teacher.  At the end of August (before students return to school), students will have the opportunity to visit their new classroom, drop off any school materials they have, and meet their new teacher in person.  The exact day and time of this ‘Meet and Greet’ visit is still being worked out and building principals will be sending out information over the summer with more detailed information.

Current Grade 5 Transition - Current Grade 5 students will participate in a transition afternoon visiting the Blake Middle School on Friday, June 17th.  Students will board a bus and travel to the Middle School to participate in meetings with Blake staff.  Grade 5 teachers will be accompanying students on this trip.  Blake will be sending out an email on Thursday, June 16th to inform students of the cluster they will be in and the advisor they will have next year so they can head up to the Middle School knowing this information.

On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to have a closeout meeting (and share cold treats) with this year's Dale Street Student Council and thank them for all of their efforts this year.  We are so proud of these leaders and know that they will continue to do great things!

On Monday, Blake Middle School Principal, Mr. Vaughn visited our fifth graders to share important information and good advice to support their transition to Blake Middle School.

Please save the date of Thursday, June 16th at 9:30 a.m. for Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration.  This year, the Grade 5 Celebration will take place on the basketball court outdoors and we are hoping for dry and nice weather.  Grade 5 families are welcome and we are asking that all guests bring a lawn chair for seating in an area off the pavement.  The health and safety of our students, their families, and the staff continue to be our number one priority.  If there is inclement weather on this day, the celebration will be held in the gymnasium.  If this is the case, we will only be able to welcome 2 guests per family for the celebration.  Here is the information that went out to all families yesterday.

Student Transfers

Any students transferring to another school district or attending a private school, please make sure to contact the office before the end of the year.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Steve
