Dear Dale Street Families,
Your children continue to do great work on a daily basis and lead by example! Here are a few photographs and highlights from the week as well as some important updates for you.
Reminder - Monday, February 14th is a half day. Dismissal time is 11:40 a.m. I am asking that all families update their child's School Dismissal Plan and make any changes if your child will be dismissed to a location other than their default location. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Morning snack/breakfast and lunch will not be served on Monday.
Amazing way to end the week...2x Olympic gold medalist & 1x Olympic silver medalist, Kristine Lilly visited #beproudbedale this morning to share her experiences as an Olympic athlete. It was a great tie-in to the SEL (social-emotional learning) discussions we have been having about perseverance and resilience! What a treat!
Valentine's Day is on Monday - very exciting! In an effort to ensure safety for all of our students and staff, we are requesting that no food/candy be sent in with Valentine's cards. On Monday, February 14th, students will enjoy a “Party in a Bag!” Have your child decorate a brown paper lunch bag in a Valentine’s theme. Once decorated, fill it with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack. Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy! Head Room Parents will be coordinating games/crafts for this day. The snack time and Valentine's themed activities will take place at different times depending on students’ schedules and will be overseen by classroom teachers.
Please note that we will not be serving snack on Monday.
I'm sure that many of you have been watching the Olympics over the past week. Very exciting for sure! Just as exciting for me was watching our fourth-grade students and staff participate in an integrated Olympic week here at Dale Street. Students took time this week to read about the history of the Olympics, learn more about Beijing (the location of this year's Winter Olympics), collaborated in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math) bobsled activity, and participated in a curling (measurement) activity. Fourth-grade students and staff definitely earned a Gold Medal this week!
Respect * Compassion * Collaboration * Continuous Growth
