February 28, 2020 - Week 25

Hello Dale Street,

It was a fun-filled and exciting week at Dale Street following February vacation.  Please take a minute to scroll through to see some of the highlights and keep updated about important and upcoming dates.

Grade 4 students had a super fun time tonight at PTO's Kids' Night Out.  Special thanks to our fabulous PTO for organizing this great event and all of the volunteers who came to help out.

Check this out...Memorial teacher, Mrs. Ravinski visited Dale Street this morning to give her former students ‘Leap Letters’. Four years ago she had her then first graders write letters to their future fifth-grade selves. So awesome!

The next Principal's Coffee will be held next Friday, March 6th, at 8:45 a.m. in the Dale Street School cafeteria.  I will be sharing information on the placement process for the 2020-2021 school year and Dr. Marsden is planning to be on hand to give an update on the Dale Street School building project.  Please RSVP if you are planning to attend.

In World Language with Mrs. LeVangie this week, fifth-grade students reviewed pasatiempos (hobbies) with a game of ¿Te gusta?  #collaboration #continuousgrowth

March Madness begins next week!

  • Each team takes 30 free throws per round
  • First-round shots (10 per player) must be taken between 7:50 am-8:20 am in the gym as follows:  Grade 4: March 3rd or 6th Grade 5: March 4th or 6th
  • All team members do not need to be present to shoot free throws
  • The teams with the most free throws (out of 30) will move on to the next round
  • Anyone wearing Medfield apparel will get 1 bonus shot per article of clothing (max 2 items).  No sharing clothing. No drawings or stickers.
  • Get up-to-date information in the cafeteria once the tournament begins
Grade 4 students in Mrs. Dowd's class took time this week to use materials from their MakerSpace cart to show and explain Notice and Note signposts from their independent reading books! A HUGE thanks to the MCPE for funding these awesome Makerspace carts!

Grade 5 parents - Please join us on Tuesday, March 3, at 5:30 pm in the Dale Street Cafeteria for the Adolescent Changes Parent Information Night. The presentation includes previewing the movie Always Changing and Growing Up by P&G.  You can preview the movie here.

In addition to our presentation, Mr. Jim James from Park Street Books has donated books to Dale Street School about “growing up” which will be on display.  These books are available for purchase from Park Street Books

On Wednesday, students in Mrs. Flynn's fourth-grade class were very excited to share their ancient civilization artifacts with Superintendent, Dr. Marsden.  Dale Street's Makerspace provides our students with so many great learning opportunities!

Thanks to our Friday DJ's who kept the lunchroom rockin'.

Parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. Conferences are a wonderful time to check in with your child's teacher about their academic and social/emotional growth. Conference dates are set for Thursday, March 12th and Tuesday, March 17th. Both days are half days for the students with dismissal at 11:40 a.m. Please note that Term II report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, March 10th.

In Open Circle this week, Ms. Bertchsmann's fifth-grade class discussed ways to be a positive leader. Students learned that it takes ALL of the skills they have highlighted this year in Open Circle. Take a look at their creations to remind them of what they are doing well and reflecting on how they can be better.

Check out the PTO update with information about the Giving Tree for Dale Street staff, Winter Carnival, volunteer opportunities and more!
